Guangzhou Sports Vocational and Technical College (under the name of Guangzhou Sports Team, hereinafter referred to as the College) was formerly the Guangzhou Central Amateur Sports School founded in 1973. It was restructured into Guangzhou Sports School in 1985 and renamed Guangzhou Weilun Sports School in 1996. In the same year, Guangzhou Sports Team was incorporated into the school. In March 2004, with the approval of the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the filing of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to a full-time higher sports vocational college organized by the People's Government of Guangzhou. It is the only sports college organized by a provincial capital city, dedicated to cultivating high-level competitive sports talents who win glory for the country and high-quality technical and skilled sports talents who meet the needs of society. The college covers an area of about 259 acres, with a total building area of 179,000 square meters. It currently has 9 management institutions, 6 teaching institutions, 8 teaching auxiliary institutions, 1 affiliated institution and 14 sports teams, with more than 4,000 students and athletes studying in higher vocational colleges. The college currently has 102 people with intermediate and senior professional titles and 124 people with intermediate professional titles. It has a team of high-level famous teachers and coaches composed of world champion coaches, individuals with outstanding contributions to the national sports industry, national outstanding teachers, and national technical experts. The college has won honors such as the National Advanced Unit for Amateur Training, the National Outstanding Contribution Award for Sports Industry, and the National Advanced Unit for Mass Sports. After years of development, the college has gradually built a "fourteen-year consistent" sports talent training system, condensed the school-running characteristics of "integration of sports and education, integration of learning and training", and realized the dual-drive linkage of competitive sports and vocational education. The college is one of the 21 "National Comprehensive Sports Training Bases" in the country. It has been rated as a "National High-level Sports Reserve Talent Base" by the State General Administration of Sports for four consecutive cycles. It has trained 10 Olympic champions, 37 world champions, and won 184 world championships. The college has continuously strengthened its connotation construction and built a collaborative education platform for schools, governments, enterprises and enterprises. It is one of the only two provincial demonstration colleges among the 18 sports vocational colleges in the country. It has won many national achievements such as the second prize of national teaching achievements, broadened international cooperation in running schools and exchanges, held Sino-Finnish sports operation and management professional cooperation projects, and co-built a sports rehabilitation hospital training base with Springfield University in the United States. It has carried out friendly exchanges with more than 20 countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and provided integrated services such as training competitions and medical rehabilitation. The college promotes the "champion spirit", condenses the champion culture, cultivates the soul, enlightens the mind, and cultivates campus cultural brands such as the "Champion Forum", "Champion Forest", and the School History Museum. The national flag guard team has won the first prize in the higher vocational group of the Guangdong Provincial School Flag Guard Competition for three consecutive sessions, integrating cultural education into the entire process of talent training and promoting the inheritance and innovation of sports culture.
