Guangzhou Zhujiang Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education. It undertakes the national plan for provincial enrollment and recruits students nationwide. The majors include medicine and health, education and sports, culture and art, news and communication, civil engineering, equipment manufacturing, transportation, electronics and information, finance and trade, public security and justice, public management and services, etc. There are teaching units such as the School of Medicine and Health, the School of Education, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Information Engineering Technology, and the School of Marxism. The preschool education professional group was approved as the first batch of high-level professional groups in Guangdong Province, and the traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation technology professional group was approved as the second batch of Guangdong high-level professional groups. The school has formed a school-running pattern with nursing, oral medicine technology, traditional Chinese medicine, pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation therapy technology and other medical and health majors as the backbone, preschool education, music performance and other majors as the highlights, and comprehensive e-commerce, computer application technology, big data and accounting, legal affairs, new energy vehicle technology, engineering cost and other multi-professional coordinated development. The school has more than 500 full-time and part-time teachers, 5 Guangdong Nanyue Outstanding Teachers, 8 Guangdong Private Education Association Outstanding Teachers, 11 Guangzhou Zengcheng District Outstanding Teachers, and more than 10 presidents and vice presidents (chairmen) of national and provincial and ministerial industry associations and professional societies. The school implements the principles of establishing people with virtue, establishing careers with use, and establishing schools with characteristics; combining work and study, integrating production, teaching and research, with the goal of cultivating innovative technical and skilled talents serving local economic and social development. There are two campuses, Guangzhou Campus and Huizhou Futian Campus Headquarters, covering an area of about 1,186 acres. The school's Futian Campus construction project has been listed as a key construction project in Guangdong Province from 2014 to 2020 by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and has also been included in Huizhou City's key construction projects from 2015 to 2020. As of August 2021, the school has organized students to participate in off-campus science, sports and cultural competitions and has won a total of 182 awards at or above the municipal level, including 41 national awards and 136 provincial awards. The school actively promotes the "double certificate" assessment system and adopts policy measures to encourage students to participate in multi-professional and multi-job skills appraisal. Since 2015, it has conducted skills appraisal and organized related examinations for more than 9,100 students, and trained more than 13,000 people. In recent years, the school's teachers have obtained 16 national invention patents, edited and participated in the editing of 82 textbooks, approved 91 school-level scientific research projects, 16 projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, and published more than 380 scientific research papers. After years of practice, a talent training model of "learning and doing in one" has been formed: that is, the talent training process embodies the characteristics of morality first, learning while doing, doing while learning, and combining learning and doing, and actively promotes the reform of talent training models. At present, the school is relying on the Futian campus to actively establish a modern college of higher learning with "hundreds of talents, thousands of acres of campus, tens of thousands of students, and 4A scenic spots". The school adopts a model that combines general high school, technical college transfer to undergraduate, self-study undergraduate and cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions. It has jointly run schools with Shinawatra University in Thailand, Yuda University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, Shenzhen University, Southwest University and other institutions, forming a school-running model with general high school education as the main body and self-study, technical college transfer to undergraduate, studying abroad, continuing education and skills training developing in a coordinated manner.
