Guiyang Health Care Vocational University is the earliest health and wellness vocational school in Guizhou Province, the first full-time public undergraduate vocational school in Guizhou Province, and the only health and wellness specialty vocational undergraduate university in the country. The school was founded in 1939 and has gone through historical periods such as Guizhou Provincial Medical Vocational School, Guizhou Provincial Guiyang Advanced Medical Vocational School, Guizhou Provincial Health School, Guiyang Health School, and Guiyang Nursing Vocational College. In 2021, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Guizhou Province to be renamed Guiyang Health Care Vocational University. In the 83 years since its establishment, it has trained nearly 70,000 technical and skilled personnel in health and wellness, and has successively won the titles of National Advanced Vocational Education Unit, the first batch of national emergency education pilot schools, the province's advanced grassroots party organizations, exemplary higher vocational schools, high-quality higher vocational colleges, high-level higher vocational schools, and medical and nursing demonstration units. In recent years, the school has adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, adhered to the vocational education type, focused on the health care characteristics, upheld the school motto of "Enlightenment of Virtue and Perfection, Sincerity and Far-reaching Aspirations", adhered to the school-running philosophy of "ingenuity, unity of knowledge and action", and took "building double highs, pursuing health care, strengthening majors, and new industries" as the main ideas, and "strengthening connotation, strong majors, strong integration, and strong characteristics" as the main path, continuously building a highland for the cultivation of high-level health care technical and skilled talents, and exporting the "Kangda" model of high-quality development of vocational undergraduate universities. 1. School Conditions The school covers an area of about 1,248 acres. The main campus is located in Guanshanhu District, adjacent to the Olympic Sports Center. It has 14 teaching institutions including the School of Marxism, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Medical Technology, School of Public Health, School of Clinical and Rehabilitation, School of Health Management, School of Medical Engineering, School of Smart Elderly Care and Modern Home Economics, School of Sports and Cultural Tourism, School of Optometry Technology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, School of Continuing Education, and School of International Education. There is one Class A tertiary hospital directly affiliated to the school (Guiyang First People's Hospital); there are modern comprehensive training buildings, smart classrooms, science and technology buildings, libraries, athletic fields, indoor gymnasiums, academic activity centers, auditoriums and other learning and living facilities, with more than 1.4 million books. The school currently has 12,478 students enrolled in college, undergraduate and master's programs, a total of 706 full-time teachers, 410 of whom are masters and doctors, accounting for 58.07% of the total number of full-time teachers, 209 "dual-qualified" teachers at the main campus, accounting for 51.35% of the full-time teachers at the main campus, 349 teachers with associate senior professional and technical titles or above, accounting for 49.43% of the total number of full-time teachers; more than 30 people have been awarded the titles of national and provincial famous vocational education teachers, skill masters, industrial professors, and the most beautiful workers, and more than 80 people serve as directors, vice-presidents and presidents of national and provincial associations as part-time members. 2. Talent Training The school actively promotes the reform of "three teachings" and is the leading unit of professional construction and talent training projects in the health, medical and elderly care service industry chain of vocational colleges in the province. It has established a number of middle-high-undergraduate-master's degree through-training programs and standards, 193 vocational undergraduate quality open courses, new teaching materials, etc., and built 5 industrial colleges such as "Chinese Medicine and Ethnic Medicine", key projects of the "Ministry of Education Power Project", "Guizhou Province Health and Health Public Training Base", provincial intelligent rehabilitation industry-education integration training base, clinical emergency training center, health care resource library and other platforms 11, provincial elderly care service and other professional skills competition bases 6; there are 9 middle-high collaborative schools such as Bijie Vocational College, nearly 100 closely cooperating hospitals and enterprises inside and outside the province, and 2 provincial industry-education integration enterprises. In the past three years, teachers and students have won 45 national and provincial skills, innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, 2 provincial vocational education teaching achievement first prizes, "1+X" certificate pilot certification rate reached 97.00%, and the employment rate, matching rate and satisfaction rate of graduates have reached more than 92%. 3. Construction of majors (groups) The school focuses on implementing the national strategy of coping with population aging, the strategy of Healthy China and Healthy Guizhou, and closely connects with six major industrial fields such as healthy pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthy elderly care services, healthy sports, health management, healthy tourism, and healthy medicine and food ingredients. It has opened 21 vocational undergraduate majors and 22 higher vocational majors. It has built a "122" professional cluster with "one leader, two wings and two supports" with the health care professional group as the leader, the pharmacy and rehabilitation treatment professional groups as the two wings, and the health management and medical technology professional groups as the support. Five national key majors have been built, and 50 provincial talent training quality improvement projects, the action plan for enriching Guizhou and the people, and the key support projects of Guizhou skills have been approved. Fourth, scientific research The school focuses on the construction of high-level platforms and high-level teams. In accordance with the general idea of "three-in-one, four-domain progress", it adheres to the people's life and health, focuses on health care fields such as maintenance, food and medicine, and condenses four research and innovation fields such as product development and technological innovation. It has established a "1+10" research and innovation team and a "1+2+N" innovation platform. It has 5 high-level scientific research platforms such as the provincial medicinal resources health care product engineering research center, and 13 innovative service teams such as the provincial "health care" research and Guizhou vocational undergraduate ideological and political theory research. In the past three years, 84 national and provincial scientific research projects have been completed; 82 patents have been authorized. Fifth, social service The school has built 6 online and offline social service platforms such as the provincial community health education base and the health care online network college. There are 15 occupational skill level certification jobs such as nursing staff, babysitters, Chinese medicine preparation workers, public nutritionists, and health managers. 16 AHA, skill competitions and health and health social training teams have been established, and 197 training and service courses of various types have been introduced and developed. In the past three years, the school has provided services and assistance to more than 20 enterprises, colleges, hospitals, villages (villages) and other institutions, dispatched more than 1,000 professional and technical personnel, and completed training, popular science, technology and other services for more than 72,464 people. 38 batches of more than 4,000 teachers and students were sent to participate in epidemic prevention and control, serving more than 10 million people. International Exchange and Cooperation The school has successively hosted the first "China-ASEAN International Health Care Vocational Education Development Forum", co-organized the "Big Data Empowerment Smart Health Care Forum" and other international exchange activities, and carried out exchanges and cooperation with universities, educational institutions, industry organizations and enterprises in countries and regions such as Canada, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand, and established a number of China-ASEAN Colorful Wisdom College demonstration classes. It is the only Sino-German Health Care Training Project (Guiyang) base in the province designated by the National Development and Reform Commission, and has co-built an overseas "Chinese Medicine Laboratory" with the Canadian College of Arts and Sciences. Through the training of international students, international school-enterprise cooperation order training, and the selection of students to go abroad for medium- and short-term exchange studies, we will build an international exchange and learning platform for students and cultivate high-tech skilled health care talents with international competence. In the past three years, nearly 1,000 international elderly care professionals have been trained.
