Guiyang University of Humanities, Science and Technology is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education and the Provincial People's Government. It was formerly the School of Humanities, Science and Technology of Guizhou Minzu University and was established in 2001. In May 2021, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Guizhou Province, it was agreed that the School of Humanities, Science and Technology of Guizhou Minzu University would be renamed Guiyang University of Humanities, Science and Technology. The school currently has two campuses. The Huaxi Campus is located in Huaxi District, Guiyang City, known as the "Pearl of the Plateau", and the University Town Campus is located in the national Gui'an New District, which is an innovation in industrial-city integration and a demonstration of ecological civilization. The school covers an area of more than 600 acres, with a beautiful campus environment and complete teaching and living facilities. The school currently has nearly 16,000 students and nearly 900 teachers, of which 41.7% have associate senior titles or above, 83% have master's degrees or above, and more than 30 famous teachers such as experts with special allowances from the State Council, "Qianling Scholars", experts under the management of Guizhou Province, experts with special allowances from the Guizhou Provincial Government, and academic leaders in philosophy and social sciences in Guizhou Province. There are two "Top Ten Innovation Teams" in philosophy and social sciences in Guizhou Province. The school is positioned as an applied higher education institution, constantly deepening the integration of industry and education, strengthening practical teaching, and promoting the cultivation of high-quality applied talents. It has signed cooperation agreements with Beijing Jinshan Cloud Network Technology Co., Ltd., Huike Education Technology Group Co., Ltd. and many other companies, and the two sides of industry and education jointly formulate talent training plans. The school insists on taking discipline construction as the leader, forming a multi-disciplinary cross-integration and coordinated development with literature, engineering, law as the main subjects, management, science, education as the support, art, agriculture and other disciplines, and actively exploring the professional construction model of new liberal arts, new engineering and new agriculture. There are currently 40 undergraduate majors. Since its establishment, it has sent more than 20,000 undergraduate graduates to the society, and cultivated a large number of applied talents with practical ability and innovative spirit for the country. In recent years, the school has won more than 600 individual or group awards at the provincial and ministerial levels. In 2019, the school's "Silver Phoenix Hairpin" project team won the gold medal in the national finals of the 5th China "Internet +" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, achieving a zero breakthrough in the gold medal of the competition in Guizhou Province. The school has won the honorary titles of "National Advanced Social Organization for Creating New Think Tanks" and "Guizhou Higher Education Institutions' Five Good' Grassroots Party Organization". At the new historical starting point, the school will thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, uphold the school motto of "self-cultivation, self-confidence, joy in learning, and perseverance in practice", and strive to build the school into a high-level applied university with distinctive characteristics, outstanding advantages, social trust, and people's satisfaction.
