Guizhou Business College, which originated from the "Guiyang Shangxin Senior Accounting Vocational School" in 1947, is the birthplace of Guizhou business education. In 1952, the Guizhou Provincial People's Government integrated business education resources on this basis to establish the "Guizhou Trade Secondary Technical School"; in 1961, it merged with the Guizhou Grain School to form the "Guizhou Business School", which opened the precedent for public business education in Guizhou; in 1987, it was upgraded to the "Guizhou Business College"; in 1993, it was renamed "Guizhou Business College"; in 2015, it was upgraded to a general undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education and renamed "Guizhou Business College"; in 2018, the Guizhou Provincial People's Government transferred the school from the Provincial Department of Commerce to the Provincial Department of Education for management, and in the same year it became the second batch of pilot units for the transformation and development of general undergraduate colleges in Guizhou Province to application-oriented; in 2019, the school successfully passed the evaluation of bachelor's degree authorization units; in 2022, it was approved as the second batch of "three-dimensional education" comprehensive reform pilot colleges in Guizhou Province. In 2023, it passed the undergraduate teaching work qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In the same year, with the approval of the Degree Committee of the Guizhou Provincial People's Government, our school was approved to be a master's degree awarding unit. The school has advanced teaching and research facilities and equipment, sufficient book resources, beautiful ecological environment, rich red culture, and comfortable and beautiful learning and living environment for teachers and students. The school is named after business, built because of business, and prospered by business. It has always been committed to cultivating applied talents and serving the local economy and industry development. Since its establishment, adhering to the school motto of "Shangxin Plastic Products for Use", it has been rooted in Guizhou and has cultivated more than 100,000 business talents. It is known as the "Cradle of Guizhou Merchants" and has made positive contributions to the economic and social development of Guizhou. The school focuses on the cultivation of applied talents and continues to promote education and teaching reforms. The school has a collection of 1.1222 million paper books and 1.3792 million electronic books. There are 11 teaching units, recruiting undergraduates from 13 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities). There are 30 undergraduate majors (including 1 cooperatively-run major), covering 4 disciplines: management, economics, engineering, and art. In 2023, 2 new undergraduate majors, digital economy and emergency management, will be added, and enrollment has begun in September of that year. 7 first-class undergraduate majors in Guizhou Province have been approved, among which the major of exhibition economy and management has been ranked among the top 20 in the country in the "Evaluation Report of Chinese Universities and Disciplines" since 2018. There are 1 national new engineering research and practice project, 1 national first-class undergraduate course, and 1 national employment and entrepreneurship "golden course"; 1 first prize in the national college ideological and political course teaching demonstration activities; 45 industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education; 9 provincial teaching achievement awards, 27 provincial "golden courses" (first-class courses), and 60 provincial teaching reform projects. The school adheres to the strategy of strengthening the school with talents. There are more than 10,000 students and 769 faculty and staff, including 502 full-time teachers and more than 100 external teachers. There are 225 full-time teachers with associate senior titles or above; 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering has been flexibly introduced; there are 3 experts with special allowances from the State Council, 4 provincial experts, 2 provincial teaching teams, and 6 provincial "Golden Teachers" (famous teachers). The school focuses on the talent support needs of Guizhou's key industries, key fields, and key platforms, and actively explores the fields and directions of big data, artificial intelligence, new energy, and new materials. Through the flexible introduction of Academician Chen Jing's team, the Guizhou Provincial Key Laboratory of Digital Economy and Network Security is being established, and a group of high-level top talents have been introduced to actively build our school's 5 major scientific research teams, injecting new vitality into the school's reform and development, and cultivating high-quality talents with both innovative spirit and practical ability. Talent reserves have been prepared, and a series of talent "introduction, training, use and retention" incentive policies have been introduced to promote the high-quality development of the school's high-level talent team. The school actively serves Guizhou's economic and social development, focusing on the "four new" main attack "four modernizations" main strategy and the "four districts and one highland" main positioning, and in accordance with the provincial government's requirements of "running out characteristics, running out levels, and better serving local economic and social development", it strives to serve Guizhou's "rural revitalization", "big data", and "big ecology" three strategic actions. The school adheres to the principle of open education, learns from advanced school-running concepts, and strengthens exchanges and cooperation. Cooperating with the Sydney International Management Institute in Australia, the school organizes Sino-foreign cooperative education projects in exhibition economy and management; and signs cooperation memoranda with 21 domestic and foreign universities such as the University of Northwestern Switzerland and Wuhan University of Technology to build an inter-school exchange platform. The school organizes exchange students to study abroad, and management cadres and teachers to go abroad for exchange and study, covering the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Singapore and other countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It has received 11 batches of delegations from foreign universities such as the University of Moncler in the United States and the Sydney International Management Institute in Australia to visit the school for exchanges. Taking the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week as an opportunity, the school hosted, organized and co-organized more than 40 China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week activities, with more than 700 teachers and students participating, and the level of international exchanges has been continuously improved.
