Guizhou Engineering and Technology College was founded in 1938. It has gone through the periods of Bijie Normal School, Bijie Half-farming and Half-reading Normal School, and Bijie Normal College. In 1993, the Ministry of Education named it Bijie Normal College. In March 2005, Bijie Normal College and Bijie Education College merged to form Bijie College, becoming a full-time general undergraduate college. In May 2014, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Bijie College was renamed Guizhou Engineering and Technology College. The school is a counterpart support project university of the Ministry of Education's "Counterpart Support Plan for Colleges and Universities in Western Regions", a national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience university, a national 100 industry-education integration application project construction university, the first batch of project pilot universities of the Ministry of Education's "Scientific Work Capacity Improvement Plan (Hundreds of Millions of Projects)", a national national defense education characteristic school, a national professional and technical personnel continuing education base, a pilot university for transformation and development in Guizhou Province, a pilot university for comprehensive education reform in Guizhou Province, and a demonstration university for innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Guizhou Province. The school covers an area of more than 1,100 acres, with a total value of teaching and scientific research equipment exceeding 140 million yuan, 1.15 million paper books, and 10 Chinese and foreign data electronic resource platforms. The school has 15 teaching colleges and 42 undergraduate majors, covering 7 disciplines including engineering, science, education, literature, management, and art. There are 911 faculty members, bringing together a team of high-quality talents represented by national outstanding teachers, provincial experts, provincial academic leaders, provincial teaching masters, provincial outstanding teachers, municipal experts, professors, and doctors. There are nearly 11,000 full-time undergraduate students from 17 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions across the country. The school currently has 1 provincial-level first-class construction and cultivation discipline, 1 provincial-level characteristic key discipline, 3 provincial-level key disciplines, 4 provincial-level key support disciplines and 10 provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors; it has 1 Guizhou Provincial Key Laboratory, 1 University Science and Technology Park, 1 Provincial-level Public Innovation Space, 4 Provincial-level University Characteristic Key Laboratories, 1 Provincial-level Municipal-co-construction Key Laboratory, 1 Provincial 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center, 4 Provincial-level Engineering Centers, 1 Provincial Humanities and Social Sciences Demonstration Base, 1 Provincial Popular Science Demonstration Base, 4 Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, 1 National College Students' Off-campus Practice Education Base, and a Provincial Industry-University-Research Foundation. 2 provincial-level college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training centers, 3 provincial-level college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training centers, Bijie Human Resources Industrial Park and Guigong Park and other platforms; 2 new engineering construction projects approved by the Ministry of Education, 1 new liberal arts construction project, 5 provincial-level excellent talent training plan projects, 25 provincial-level first-class courses, 1 first-class platform, 1 first-class teaching management team, more than 100 provincial-level undergraduate teaching quality engineering reform projects, 9 provincial-level teaching achievement awards; 5 provincial-level science and technology innovation talent teams, 2 provincial-level teaching teams; Computer Science and Technology and Chinese Language and Literature majors won the third place in the undergraduate major evaluation of undergraduate colleges in Guizhou Province. In the past three years, the school has undertaken 113 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. Facing the future, Guizhou Engineering Institute of Applied Technology will uphold the school-running spirit of “hard work and continuous progress”, adhere to the fundamental principle of developing education and educating people, aim to cultivate front-line engineers who serve the needs of industrialization and urbanization construction, and front-line teachers who serve the needs of basic education.
