Hainan Health Vocational College, established in May 2020, is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Hainan Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education of China. It is also the only public health higher vocational college in Hainan Province. The school is located in the China (Hainan) Free Trade Port, located in the construction center of the trade port and the beautiful provincial capital city of Haikou. It has two campuses, Xiuhua and Yehai, with a total area of 210.29 acres and a building area of 99,300 square meters. There are 317 faculty and staff. Among them, there are 217 full-time teachers, of which 21.6% have postgraduate degrees, 32.7% have senior professional titles, 68% have full-time teachers, and 66.17% have dual-qualified teachers. The school has applied for and registered 14 majors in 6 professional categories. There are 13 majors (13 higher vocational majors, 9 five-year integrated majors, 2 middle-high "3+2" majors, and 2 high-level "3+2" majors) in the university, including nursing, nursing (health and social care), nursing (medical cosmetology), midwifery, pharmacy, Chinese medicine, drug quality and safety, medical testing technology, rehabilitation therapy technology, medical imaging technology, optometry technology, acupuncture and massage, and preventive medicine. The university has established a leading major in nursing, which drives the development of advantageous majors such as midwifery and pharmacy, and characteristic majors such as medical testing and rehabilitation technology, forming a school-running pattern of coordinated development supported by multiple majors. There are 5,600 full-time students from 21 provinces and cities, including 4,109 higher vocational students and 1,491 five-year integrated students. The university has established a two-level management system of school and department, and established a system of "one hospital, three departments, five departments, and seven centers". There are 2 mass organizations, namely the Trade Union and the Youth League Committee. There are 2 scientific research departments, namely the Medical and Health Industry Research Center and the Scientific Research Department. There are 7 teaching units, namely the School of Marxism, Nursing Department, Pharmacy Department, Rehabilitation Department, Clinical Medicine Department, Basic Medicine Department, and Public Teaching Department. There are 6 auxiliary teaching units, namely the Quality Monitoring and Evaluation Center, the Technology Collaborative Service Center (Adult Continuing Education, Vocational Training Center), the Information Management Center, the International Exchange and Cooperation Center, the Library (Medical Information Retrieval Center), and the Teacher Teaching Development Center. The school has established the goal of "Hainan characteristics, domestic first-class", the positioning of "professional, characteristic, international" and the philosophy of "medical and educational collaboration, industry-education integration". Focusing on the major national strategies, the strategy of building a free trade port and the goal of building a higher level of health island, the school has planned a development blueprint from a high starting point. It has built a number of professional education and training centers such as basic nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, rehabilitation and physiotherapy, with more than 100 basic medical and clinical professional laboratories, and 2 popular science bases such as the Life Science Museum and the Chinese Medicine Showroom. It is the only base in Hainan for the National Examination for Physicians of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. The on-campus training base actively creates a real-life atmosphere, and humanistic thoughts are subtly influenced, and theory and practice are integrated. At the same time, the school has actively opened more than 60 off-campus training bases, covering more than 85% of the province's tertiary hospitals and 100% of the second-class hospitals. The school is recognized as a 1+X certificate pilot school by the Vocational and Adult Education Department of the Ministry of Education of China. It has 15 vocational skills certificate pilot projects, covering health care throughout the life cycle. The "Hainan Rural Health Science and Education Lecturer Group" project was rated as the "Lifelong Learning Brand Project" of the Ministry of Education in 2020. The school is the first batch of national emergency education pilot schools of the Ministry of Education. The Hainan Province Emergency Medicine Training Base, the Haikou City 120 Emergency Center Emergency Safe House, and the National Disaster Life Support Course NDLS Training Base are located in the school. The school's graduates have a high professional matching rate and strong stability, and are deeply welcomed by employers. The employment rate of the first batch of higher vocational graduates in 2023 reached 90.91%. The teachers and students of the college actively participated in various skill competitions inside and outside the province. The students won the first prize of the National Beauty Industry-Education Integration Vocational Skills Competition, the second prize of the National Vocational College Skills Competition Higher Vocational Group Health and Social Care Competition, Nursing Skills Competition, Rehabilitation Therapy Technology Competition, and the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, the National College Student English Competition and many other national awards.
