Hangzhou Dianzi University is a teaching and research university with outstanding electronic information characteristics, obvious advantages in economics and management disciplines, and the mutual penetration of multiple disciplines such as engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, and art. The school was founded in 1956 and was originally named Hangzhou Aviation Industry Finance and Economics School. It then went through the periods of Hangzhou Aviation Industry School, Zhejiang Electrical Engineering College, Zhejiang Mechanical Industry School, Hangzhou Radio Industry Management School, and Hangzhou Radio Industry School. In 1980, the State Council approved the establishment of Hangzhou Electronic Industry College. In 2003, the original Hangzhou Publishing School was fully incorporated and renamed Hangzhou Dianzi University in 2004. The school was successively affiliated to the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Fourth Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Ministry of Electronics Industry, the Ministry of Information Industry and other central ministries and commissions. In 2000, it implemented a school management system jointly built by Zhejiang Province and the Ministry of Information Industry, with Zhejiang Province as the main management. In 2007, it became a university jointly built by Zhejiang Province and the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. In 2015, it was listed as a key university in Zhejiang Province. The school adheres to the principle of being based in Zhejiang, relying on the industry, facing the world, serving the society, and supporting national defense. The school campus environment is beautiful and picturesque. It currently has five campuses, including Xiasha, Wenyi, Dongyue, Xiasha East and Qingshan Lake, covering an area of more than 2,500 acres; it has 19 colleges and teaching units, and has established an independent college, with more than 28,000 full-time students and more than 2,600 faculty and staff. The school has a complete talent training system including undergraduate education, graduate education, education for international students in China, and continuing education. Among them, integrated circuit science and engineering is one of the first batch of integrated circuit science and engineering first-level doctoral degree authorization points in the country, with master's recommendation rights and IELTS test points. It has 4 national defense specialty disciplines, 2 Zhejiang Province's top-level disciplines, 2 Zhejiang Province's top-level disciplines, 4 Zhejiang Province's first-class disciplines (Class A), 6 Zhejiang Province's first-class disciplines (Class B), 1 Zhejiang Province's key research base for philosophy and social sciences, 1 Zhejiang Province's key research base for humanities and social sciences, and 19 Zhejiang Province's key disciplines. After years of construction and development, the school has developed into an important base for talent training, scientific research, social services, and cultural inheritance and innovation in Zhejiang Province. The school's scale, level, quality, and efficiency are all among the top universities in Zhejiang Province. The school has strong scientific research strength and has participated in and completed a series of national "Sixth Five-Year Plan" to "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" key research, "973" and "863" and other high-tech research and development projects and national, provincial and ministerial funds in many fields. In 2023, the actual scientific research funds exceeded 700 million yuan.
