Hangzhou Medical College is a full-time public undergraduate medical college directly under the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and is managed by the Zhejiang Provincial Health Commission. History: The predecessor of Hangzhou Medical College was the Zhejiang Provincial Women's Obstetrics School founded in 1925. It has gone through Zhejiang Provincial Hangzhou Senior Medical Vocational School, Zhejiang Hangzhou Health School, Zhejiang Health School, Zhejiang Medical College, etc. It was upgraded to a medical undergraduate college in 2016 and has a history of more than 90 years. The predecessor of Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences was the Hangzhou Institute of Tropical Diseases founded in 1928. It has gone through Zhejiang Health Experimental Institute, Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences, Zhejiang People's Health Experimental Institute, Zhejiang Medical Research Institute, etc. It was renamed Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences in 1987. In 2019, the former Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences and the former Hangzhou Medical College merged as a whole to form the new Hangzhou Medical College. School conditions: There are three campuses in Lin'an, Binjiang and Huanglong, Qingshan Lake Science and Technology Innovation Center and Binjiang Biomedicine R&D Center (National New Drug Safety Evaluation Center). The school covers an area of 1,456.26 acres, with a building area of 382,100 square meters. The total value of the existing teaching and research equipment is 426 million yuan. It has more than 20 authoritative domestic and foreign professional databases, including the full-text resources of the National Science and Technology Library and Documentation Center; there is one directly affiliated hospital (Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital), 14 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and nearly 200 off-campus practical teaching bases. There are 18 scientific and technological service platforms such as the National Drug Administration Drug GLP Certification Agency, the National Hepatitis A Attenuated Live Vaccine Virus Conservation Center, the Zhejiang Schistosomiasis Control Center, and the Zhejiang Experimental Animal Management Office. In the past five years (2018-2022), 529 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial level or above have been obtained, including 135 national scientific research projects, 15 provincial and ministerial level and above achievement awards, 923 national authorized patents, and more than 500 papers have been published annually in high-level academic journals at home and abroad.
