Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College is a full-time higher vocational college sponsored by the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government. Its predecessor was the Hangzhou Workers' University, which was formed by the merger of six schools under the Hangzhou Economic Commission system, including Hangzhou Machinery, Chemical, Textile, Silk, Light Industry, and West Lake Electronics. It was planned in 1998 and officially established in 2002. In 2010, it was rated as a "model higher vocational college" in Zhejiang Province. In 2015, it passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance with excellent grades and became a "national backbone higher vocational college". In 2016, it became a construction unit of Zhejiang Province's high-quality higher vocational colleges, and in 2019 it was rated as a "national high-quality higher vocational college". In December 2019, the school was listed as a construction unit of a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics (B grade) (referred to as the "double high plan") by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance; in January 2023, the school won the "excellent" grade in the mid-term performance evaluation of the national "double high plan". The school is located in Hangzhou, which is known as the "paradise on earth". It is located in the Qiantang District Higher Education Park, covers an area of more than 1,700 acres, and currently has more than 13,000 full-time students and nearly 1,000 faculty and staff. The school consists of nine secondary colleges, including Youjia Intelligent Manufacturing College, Business and Tourism College, Dali Women's Wear College, Ecological Health College, Information Engineering College, Geely Automobile College, Hangzhou Animation and Game College, Rainbow Fish Rehabilitation and Nursing College, and Special Equipment College. It offers 42 majors (including professional directions) in 13 categories, including intelligent control technology, information security technology application, biopharmaceutical technology, e-commerce, elevator engineering technology, clothing design and technology, new energy vehicles, and animation design. There are 4 national professional teaching resource libraries, 2 national high-level professional groups, 1 major supported by the central government, 4 national backbone (key) construction majors, 3 national modern apprenticeship pilot majors, 2 national vocational college equipment manufacturing and transportation demonstration majors, and 12 provincial key and advantageous (characteristic) majors; 2 training bases supported by the central government, 1 national demonstration virtual simulation training base, and 6 provincial key (demonstration) training bases. The school has invested 300 million yuan in the municipal government, covers an area of 30 acres, and is open to the whole city. The Hangzhou Vocational College Training Center and Hangzhou Public Training Base integrates training, training, appraisal and evaluation, and research and development. It has built a Qiantang New District Vocational Student Entrepreneurship Park (a national college student science and technology entrepreneurship internship base).
