Hebei Institute of Physical Education is the only independent undergraduate sports college in Hebei Province. In April 1984, with the approval of the Hebei Provincial Government, it was established on the basis of the physical education department of Hebei Normal University and began to enroll students. In August 1985, the State Education Commission officially approved the establishment of the college on the site of Hebei Sports School. In June 2005, Hebei Sports School was substantially merged into Hebei Institute of Physical Education. The administrative department is the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau. The school currently has two campuses. The Xuefu Road Campus (covering more than 500 acres) is located on the banks of the scenic Hutuo River in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province. The campus is surrounded by the Taiping River Ecological Park with the fragrance of pears and fruits. The Zhengding New District Campus (covering more than 200 acres) is adjacent to the Hebei Olympic Sports Center. The school has 13 teaching units, including the Hebei Institute of Physical Education Shooting College, which was jointly built with the Shooting and Archery Sports Center of the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, 11 departments (divisions) and 1 affiliated sports school. The university focuses on undergraduate education, and has 16 undergraduate majors, including physical education, sports training, social sports guidance and management, martial arts and traditional national sports, sports human science, leisure sports, sports rehabilitation, sports economics and management, property management, English, dance, dance performance, broadcasting and hosting art, preschool education, ice and snow sports, and physical training. Among them: sports training majors, martial arts and traditional national sports majors are national characteristic professional construction points; social sports guidance and management majors are national professional comprehensive reform pilots; sports professional talent training is a provincial undergraduate education innovation highland. Our school currently has one national first-class undergraduate professional construction point: martial arts and traditional national sports. There are 5 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction points: physical education, sports training, social sports guidance and management, sports human science, and dance performance. Two provincial boutique online open courses: "Sports Injuries and Massage" and "Aerobics". Three courses are online on the national higher education smart education platform: "Ice and Snow Sports Culture", "Sports Injuries and Massage", and "Aerobics". Five provincial first-class undergraduate courses: "General English for Sports" (offline first-class course), "Sports Physiology" (offline first-class course), "Physical Training" (offline first-class course), "Computer Culture Foundation" (online and offline mixed first-class course), "Fashion Fitness Dance" (social practice first-class course). Three provincial ideological and political demonstration courses: "Aerobics", "Sports Traumatology", and "Hebei Folk Martial Arts". Provincial excellent teaching teams: track and field teaching team, martial arts and traditional national sports teaching team, aerobics teaching team, ice and snow sports teaching team. The Sports Human Science Experimental Teaching Center and the Foreign Language Intelligent Teaching Training Center are the experimental teaching demonstration centers of higher education institutions in Hebei Province; the "Hebei Institute of Physical Education-Tianjin Songjiang Tuanbo Lake Golf Club Practice Education Base" is a provincial off-campus practical education base for college students. The four secondary disciplines of "Physical Education" are all provincial key or key development disciplines: "Physical Education and Training" is a key discipline in Hebei Province, and "Sports Humanities and Sociology", "Traditional National Sports" and "Sports Human Science" are key development disciplines in Hebei Province. In 2020, the "Hebei Provincial Key Laboratory of Sports Technology Research and Application" and the "Hebei Provincial Key Laboratory of Digital Physical Fitness Monitoring and Health Promotion" jointly built by the Hebei Institute of Sports Science were approved for provincial key laboratory construction. An interdisciplinary, cross-professional, and compound professional degree tutor team has been established in four directions: physical education teaching, sports training, social sports guidance and management, and competition organization and management. There are 7,452 full-time students and 485 full-time teachers. There are 1 expert enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 2 experts enjoying special allowances from the provincial government, 2 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions at the provincial level, 1 national model teacher, 4 provincial teaching masters, 2 outstanding young and middle-aged professional and technical talents from the State Sports General Administration, and 22 candidates for the provincial "Three Three Three Talent Project"; there are more than 70 international referees, national referees, and athletes. Over the years, the school has always adhered to the path of "teaching and scientific research, competitive training, and mass fitness", adhered to the "big sports view", and adhered to the school motto of "respecting morality, honing ability, studying hard, and exploring new things". The goal is to cultivate applied talents with both civil and military skills, high morals and fine skills, and rich innovative spirit and practical ability, and focus on cultivating "sports people" with outstanding comprehensive qualities and all-round development. Through the talent training model of "opening up the foundation, professional diversion, and characteristic training", a large number of outstanding talents have been trained for competitive sports, national fitness, sports industry, sports education, and national sports, and gradually established the backbone position of sports teaching, training, and scientific research in the province. The school was awarded the first batch of "National High-level Sports Reserve Talent Base" by the State General Administration of Sports, and was awarded the "Hebei Traditional Sports Project School Teacher Training Base" and "Hebei Ice and Snow Talent Training Base" by the Provincial Sports Bureau and Education Department. It was awarded the "2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics Training Base" by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, and was awarded the "Hebei Minority Project Comprehensive Training Base" by the Provincial Sports Bureau and the Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Department, and was awarded the "Hebei Intangible Cultural Heritage Communication Base" by the Provincial Department of Culture and Education. It has been awarded the title of "National Advanced Unit of Ethnic Sports" by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the State General Administration of Sports, the title of "National Advanced Unit of Ethnic Unity" by the Hebei Provincial Government, the title of "National Advanced Unit of Mass Sports" by the State General Administration of Sports, and the title of "National Model Collective of Ethnic Unity and Progress" by the State Council. In the 38 years since its establishment, the school has trained more than 40,000 undergraduate and junior college graduates in competitive sports, national fitness, sports industry, physical education, and ethnic sports. A large number of outstanding graduates have grown into backbone forces in primary and secondary schools, sports teams, public security and armed police systems, fitness clubs and other units and departments, and have been widely praised by the society. In the past five years, the employment rate of students has remained above 90%. Through the "combination of learning and training, and integration of sports and education", the school and various project centers jointly cultivate outstanding competitive sports talents. Such as Olympic champions Cai Yalin, Su Huijuan, Pang Wei, world champions Zhang Yafei, Zhao Yinghui, Ren Jie, Chi Bin, Chinese chess international master Li Laiqun, chess queen Hu Ming, world footballer Sun Qingmei, women's national football team members Bai Jie, Zhang Ouying, Wang Liping, Liu Yali, Wang Kun, Liu Shanshan, national basketball players Ma Jian, Liang Da, Liu Jun, table tennis national players Fan Jianxin, Niu Jianfeng, women's shot put Asian record holder Li Meisu, etc. More than 90% of the players in Hebei Province's basketball, volleyball, football and other collective project professional teams are sent by Hebei Sports University. Hebei Province's seven-a-side rugby professional team and youth football professional team are directly hosted by Hebei Sports University. Through "college-enterprise cooperation and collaborative education", we make full use of social resources to cultivate golf and ice and snow talents. Since 2003, the school has cooperated with enterprises to hold golf management. Over the years, graduates of golf management have spread over more than 80% of golf courses across the country. The Department of Ice and Snow Sports was established in 2015 and began to enroll students in 2016. At present, the scale of ice and snow talent training ranks first in the country. With the ice and snow teaching and training base network "Zhangjiakou Chongli as the center and radiating to the surrounding Inner Mongolia, Beijing and other places" as the core, the school is striving to become the "vanguard" of ice and snow talent training in the country. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the school directly served a total of 476 Winter Olympic personnel, including 408 members of the competition organization service team, who served as staff of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, domestic technical officials, and venue operation and maintenance, logistics support service personnel, directly serving 9 competition venues, achieving full coverage of the three major competition areas of Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou; the Winter Olympics volunteer team of 68 people, undertook Nordic combined, biathlon and other competition events as well as non-event positions such as art performances and traffic assistants. The competition organization service team and the volunteer team won the "Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics Hebei Province Advanced Collective", and two teachers won the "Advanced Individual". Today, all the teachers and students of the college are guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and they have not forgotten their original aspirations, kept their mission in mind, and firmly grasped the historical opportunities of the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the construction of Xiongan New Area. They have implemented the strategic deployment of building a strong country in education, a strong country in sports, and a healthy China. They have taken moral education as the foundation, focused on the strategic tasks of "two highs and one breakthrough" proposed by the Third Party Congress, further emancipated their minds, deepened reforms, opened up schools, developed connotations, and comprehensively improved the quality of talent training, striving to build the school into an applied sports university with distinctive characteristics and domestic influence.
