Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University originated from the "Beiyang Technology School" founded in Tianjin in 1903. It is one of the earliest higher industrial vocational colleges in my country. The school began to serve the petroleum industry in 1952 and moved to Chengde City, Hebei Province in 1958. In 2021, the Ministry of Education approved Chengde Petroleum College as the main body of the school, and merged with the City College of Hebei University of Technology to become a vocational undergraduate college. The school is a high-level professional group construction college of the national "Double High Plan", a high-level backbone vocational college serving advanced manufacturing in the national machinery industry, and a founding member of the "Belt and Road" Alliance of China's Petroleum and Chemical Vocational Education. It was selected as "30 Schools in 30 Years" in "China Vocational and Technical Education" and was rated as a typical demonstration university for employment and entrepreneurship in Hebei Province. It has been ranked fifth in the country in the comprehensive competitiveness ranking of "Jinpingguo" vocational undergraduate colleges for two consecutive years. Since 2008, the school has won the title of "National Civilized Unit" for 15 consecutive years. In 2022, the school was awarded the Seventh Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award for Outstanding Schools. The school covers an area of 1,140 mu, with a building area of more than 370,000 square meters and teaching and research equipment worth more than 220 million yuan. The library has a collection of more than 1.01 million paper books, more than 400,000 electronic books, and 12 electronic resource databases of various types. There are 849 faculty members, including 323 teachers with senior professional titles (68 professors) and 667 teachers with master's degrees or above (103 doctors). The backbone majors all have "double-teacher" structure teaching teams, and have established 3 national teaching teams, 2 national vocational education teacher teaching innovation teams, 3 national petroleum and chemical excellent teaching teams, 1 provincial college Huang Danian-style teacher team, and 4 provincial teacher teaching innovation teams. There are 9 national talents such as recipients of the State Council Special Allowance and National Technical Experts; 44 provincial titles such as Hebei Provincial Planning Master and Hebei Provincial Outstanding Talents. It ranks 17th in the country (first in Hebei Province) in the national ranking of the teaching development index of teachers in higher vocational colleges. The school has 10 departments (Mechanical Engineering Department, Electrical and Electronics Department, Thermal Engineering Department, Chemical Engineering Department, Computer and Information Engineering Department, Automotive Engineering Department, Petroleum Engineering Department, Construction Engineering Department, Management Engineering Department, Foreign Languages and Tourism Department), 3 departments (Mathematics Department, Sports Health and Art Education Department, Adult Education and Training Department), 1 college (Marxism College), 4 centers (Information Center, Industrial Technology Center, Instrument Engineering Technology Research Center, International Exchange Center). There are 18 vocational undergraduate majors and 47 junior college majors. It has 4 cooperatively run majors with Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Germany and 3 cooperatively run majors with Silla University in South Korea. It has been rated as an advanced collective of international education exchange in Hebei Province and a model Sino-foreign cooperative education project in Hebei Province. It has established several leading domestic high-level professional groups such as petroleum engineering professional group, petrochemical professional group, instrument industry group, etc., and has been approved as a pilot for the key tasks of the Ministry of Education in the construction of a learning society. There are 51 provincial-level and above quality courses, including 22 national-level quality courses, quality resource sharing courses, and quality online open courses; it has won 4 national excellent textbook construction awards and 3 national teaching achievement awards. The school enrolls students from 27 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government), and currently has more than 13,100 full-time students and more than 5,000 adult education students. Explore and practice the "industry-oriented, job-based" training model for high-level technical and skilled talents such as field engineers, and jointly establish 5 industrial colleges with Huawei, Great Wall Motors, Wanhua Chemical and other companies, and jointly build a "high-skilled talent training base" with China Petroleum, and jointly build a "skilled talent training alliance" with China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and jointly build off-campus training bases with more than 100 energy companies. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education for 57 supply-demand docking employment education and industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects (ranked first among vocational colleges nationwide), and was rated as one of the "Top Ten Demonstration Projects for School-Enterprise Cooperation in Hebei Province", and was selected as one of the "Typical Cases of Industry-Education Integration School-Enterprise Cooperation" by the Ministry of Education. In recent years, students have won 220 national skill competition awards, including the Gold Award of China International "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the First Prize of the National Vocational College Skills Competition. 40 students have won provincial and above titles such as "National Youth Job Experts". They have cultivated a large number of outstanding technical and skilled talents, such as Lv Xiaogang, the on-site implementation leader of my country's "First 10,000-meter Scientific Exploration Well", and Sun Lingling, a national model worker. It is the first choice for companies such as China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinopec, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation to recruit technical and skilled talents. The employment rate of graduates has been among the top of similar colleges in Hebei Province for many years. The Ministry of Education has awarded it the title of "National Graduate Employment Typical Experience University". The Hebei Provincial Expert Group evaluated our school's employment and entrepreneurship work as "complete system, practical work, good practices, many highlights, and strong demonstration". The school is committed to serving the leading industries of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the development of the national petroleum and petrochemical industry. It has built 1 national maker space, 12 provincial science and technology innovation service platforms such as the Hebei Instrument Industry Technology Research Institute, and 15 municipal science and technology innovation platforms such as vanadium-titanium magnetite scandium selection. The "government, school, and enterprise" jointly established the Chengde Sustainable Development Research Institute and the Industrial Innovation Center to support the construction of the Chengde National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone. From 2019 to date, 362 scientific research projects at or above the municipal and departmental level have been approved, including 32 provincial directive scientific research projects. In the past five years, the total amount of scientific research funds received by the school has been nearly 65 million yuan, and 1,803 papers have been published, including 247 core journal papers and 253 three major search papers.
