Hebei University of Science and Technology was founded by Heyang Education Investment Co., Ltd. and is affiliated to the Hebei Provincial Department of Education. It is an ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school was founded in 1991. The predecessor of the school was Baoding Huzhen Vocational and Technical College founded in 2003. In 2006, it was renamed Baoding Science and Technology Vocational College with the approval of the Hebei Provincial People's Government. In 2011, it was upgraded to a private ordinary undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education and renamed Hebei University of Science and Technology; in April 2015, it was awarded the right to confer bachelor's degrees. In 2016, it was approved as a professional master's degree project construction unit. In 2018, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In December 2020, it was identified by Hebei Province as the second batch of pilot schools for the transformation and development of ordinary undergraduate colleges to applied technology-type colleges. In May 2021, it passed the quality evaluation of the ideological and political theory course construction in Hebei Province. The school has 9 secondary colleges, 40 undergraduate majors, and 30 junior college majors, covering 6 major disciplines including engineering, management, economics, art, education, and medicine. There are 1,780 faculty members, 1,342 full-time teachers, 28,853 students, the school covers an area of 2,800 acres, the total construction area is 1.1 million square meters, the total value of instruments and equipment is 162.9077 million yuan, and there are 2,525,955 paper books.
