Hebei University of Science and Technology is located in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, covering an area of 2,575 acres. It was formed by the merger of the former Hebei Institute of Light Industry and Chemical Engineering, Hebei Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Hebei Textile Workers University, and Hebei Textile Industry School. In 1956, higher education was held. In the course of many years of schooling, the school has always adhered to the school motto of "committed to the all-round development of people, serving regional economic construction and social progress", adhering to the school motto of "prosperity and responsibility" and the spirit of "enterprising, collaborative, and dedicated", and has trained more than 300,000 outstanding graduates for the country. The school is one of the first batch of multi-disciplinary backbone universities in Hebei Province, a university jointly built by the Hebei Provincial People's Government and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, a national first-class university construction university supported by Hebei Province, and a university of the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program". The school has 21 teaching colleges (departments) and 80 undergraduate majors, covering nine major categories: engineering, science, literature, economics, management, law, medicine, education, and art. There are 9 provincial key disciplines, 1 provincial key development discipline, 1 discipline selected as a world-class discipline construction project in Hebei Province, and 2 disciplines selected as national first-class discipline construction projects in Hebei Province. Three disciplines, including engineering, chemistry, and materials science, are in the top 1% of the ESI world ranking. There is 1 first-level discipline authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 28 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, and 16 master's professional degree authorization categories. The school has more than 27,000 full-time undergraduates, graduate students, and international students, more than 2,400 faculty and staff, 3 specially appointed Chinese and foreign academicians, 2 national candidates for the New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project, more than 150 people who have won various high-level talent titles such as innovative leaders of the National High-level Talent Special Support Plan, experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, provincial high-end talents, and provincial excellent experts, and 18 provincial teaching masters. The school has won 1 second prize for national teaching achievements, 66 provincial teaching achievement awards, and has been approved for 29 national "undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform engineering projects". 5 majors were selected as pilot majors of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program", 9 majors passed the China Engineering Education Professional Certification, 13 majors were selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 25 majors were selected as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. 9 courses were recognized as national first-class undergraduate courses, and 44 courses were recognized as provincial first-class undergraduate courses. In the 2020 National University Subject Competition Ranking, it ranked 77th in the country and 2nd in Hebei Province. The school was rated as a national typical experience university for innovation and entrepreneurship, and a national demonstration university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. The rate of graduates' graduation destination implementation ranks among the top provincial universities, and has cultivated outstanding alumni such as Han Buxing and Chen Guang, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ren Hongqiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It has been selected as one of the top 100 universities in the Chinese University Rich Alumni Ranking for many years. The school has won 1 second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of the Military Science and Technology Progress Award, and 1 second prize of the National Higher Education Institutions Technology Invention Award. The university has won more than 210 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, including 15 first prizes and 67 second prizes. It has obtained more than 2,500 patents of various types and published more than 1,200 books. It has established scientific and technological education cooperation with more than 400 local governments, industry organizations, enterprises and institutions. As a construction unit, the university has 36 provincial and ministerial science and technology innovation platforms, joined 3 national industrial technology innovation alliances and 5 provincial industrial technology innovation strategic alliances, and took the lead in establishing the "Hebei University Intellectual Property Application Alliance". The university was approved as a "National Technology Transfer Demonstration Institution" and is the first batch of "Science and Technology Achievements Export Base" in Hebei Province. "Journal of Hebei University of Science and Technology" is a core Chinese journal of Peking University. The university has carried out exchanges and cooperation with 109 universities and research institutions in 24 countries (and regions), and currently has 1 Sino-foreign cooperative education institution and 5 projects. Nearly 30 national and provincial projects and platforms have been approved, including the "Chinese Bridge" project of the Ministry of Education, the international science and technology cooperation project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the international science and technology cooperation base. 15 majors taught entirely in English are offered, and undergraduate, master and doctoral students from more than 40 countries (regions) are enrolled. It ranks 99th among universities in China in the ranking of internationalization of universities (2017URI). The journey is long and the wind is strong, and the heavy responsibility is heavy.
