Heilongjiang Engineering College is located in Harbin, a beautiful northern city. The school was founded in 1952. Its predecessor was Heilongjiang Transportation College under the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Transportation and Harbin Engineering College under the former Ministry of Metallurgy. In March 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was merged and renamed Heilongjiang Engineering College. It is a provincial full-time general undergraduate college with engineering as the main subject and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The school is listed as a university jointly built by the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the first batch of universities implementing the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, and one of the 100 demonstration schools of the application-oriented university construction project implemented by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education to promote the modernization of education. Demonstration university for characteristic application-oriented undergraduates in Heilongjiang Province, a university of "double first-class" characteristic disciplines in Heilongjiang Province, the vice chairman unit of the National Alliance of Applied Technology Universities (Colleges) and the vice chairman unit of the National Local Universities Excellent Engineering Education School-Enterprise Alliance. It is the vanguard of the transformation and development of local general undergraduate universities in the country. The school covers a total area of nearly 800,000 square meters. The campus is full of engineering culture. It has modern teaching and experimental buildings, the Shaw Library, the College Student Cultural and Sports Activity Center, the Engineering Culture Museum, the Mental Health Education and Counseling Center and other facilities, and has a ubiquitous mobile Internet learning environment. The school library has a collection of more than 1.1 million books, and journals such as "Journal of Heilongjiang Engineering College", "Surveying and Mapping Engineering", and "Transportation Science and Technology and Economy" are publicly issued. The school recruits students from all over the country, and currently has more than 13,000 full-time undergraduate students. There are more than 1,160 faculty and staff, including more than 740 full-time teachers. The school has 16 teaching units, 3 master's degree authorization points in resources and environment, transportation, and design, 3 national defense specialty disciplines in power, optics, and computer, and the province's "double first-class" specialty discipline of cold region green and low-carbon transportation technology. The school currently has 54 undergraduate majors, of which 21 majors have been selected as first-class construction majors in the national/provincial "Double Ten Thousand Plan", and 7 majors have passed the national engineering education certification. The school has always adhered to the demand orientation, and has deeply implemented the "industry-education integration, collaborative education, science-education integration, collaborative innovation, military-civilian integration, and collaborative development" to create an upgraded version of school-enterprise cooperation. It has co-built 9 industry colleges with industry enterprises, including Longjian College, Longjian International Engineering Management College, Smart Building College, Smart City Research Institute, Intelligent Transportation College, Intelligent Manufacturing College, ZTE ICT College, Information and Intelligent Control College, and Xindao UFIDA Innovation and Entrepreneurship College. The school was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the "Specialized and New Industry College" construction project, and Longjian Road and Bridge Construction Modern Industry College was selected as the first batch of provincial modern industry college construction sites in Heilongjiang Province. The school has established the Ministry of Education-ZTE ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base, Industry 4.0 Intelligent Manufacturing Education Training Center, Industrial Robot Innovation Practice Center, Siemens Advanced Automation Technology Joint Training Room, BIM Center, VBSE Comprehensive Training Room, ARE Virtual Simulation Training Room, Commercial Vehicle Network Big Data Monitoring and Management Center, Big Data Internet of Things and GIS Integration Technology Laboratory, Leica Modern Surveying and Mapping Technology Laboratory, Mechanical Innovation Laboratory and other industry-education integration bases. The school currently has 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 2 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 national engineering practice education centers, 1 national off-campus practice education base for college students, 2 provincial off-campus practice education bases for college students, and more than 180 on-campus and off-campus internship bases. The school has 2 postdoctoral research workstations, 4 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, 3 provincial engineering technology research centers, 1 provincial collaborative innovation center, 1 provincial new R&D institution jointly built by schools and enterprises, 1 provincial intangible cultural heritage research base, and 3 provincial university engineering centers. The school has built a university science and technology park, a university student entrepreneurship park, and a university student innovation and entrepreneurship base. The university science and technology park has been identified by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a "national mass innovation space" and a "national science and technology enterprise incubator." The school adheres to the principle of open education and actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation in education. It has established friendly inter-school relations with more than 10 universities in the United States, Finland, Russia, Belarus, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries; it has formed a sister school with Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan; it has carried out international cooperative education projects with Western Illinois University in the United States and Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Finland; and it has jointly carried out technology research and development projects with the Belarusian State Technical University. The school is based in Heilongjiang, faces the industry, radiates the whole country, cultivates application-oriented, compound and innovative talents that meet the needs of economic and social development, and enjoys the reputation of "Cradle of Engineers" in the society. The implementation rate of undergraduate graduates has always ranked among the top undergraduate colleges in the province.
