Henan College of Animal Husbandry and Economics is located in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former Zhengzhou Animal Husbandry Engineering College (founded in 1957) and the former Henan Commercial College (founded in 1960). It is a provincial public full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education and organized by the Henan Provincial People's Government. The school covers a total area of 1.913 million square meters. It currently has three campuses and three scientific and educational bases in Longzihu, Yingcai, and Beilin, with a total construction area of 955,800 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 267 million yuan, and the library has 2.817 million paper books. There are 486 laboratories and training sites, 14 provincial engineering technology research centers, 2 provincial college student entrepreneurship incubation demonstration bases and 311 off-campus training bases. The school currently has 1,877 faculty members, including 118 people with senior professional titles and 416 people with associate senior professional titles; 1,444 people with master's degrees or above; 727 "dual-qualified" teachers; 4 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 1 national candidate for the "Million Talents Project", 2 national teaching masters, 2 national excellent teachers, 1 member of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Teaching Committee, 2 candidates for the "Zhongyuan Thousand Talents Plan", 2 experts with special allowances from the provincial government, 11 provincial teaching masters, 4 provincial excellent experts, 11 provincial excellent teachers, 10 provincial academic and technical leaders, and 63 department-level academic and technical leaders. There are 2 national teaching teams and 7 provincial teaching teams. The school currently has 21 secondary teaching units and 50 undergraduate majors, connecting with the animal husbandry and industry industry chain, and has established a discipline and professional system with animal production, food engineering, information technology, and economic management as the main body, and animal husbandry and industry integration, multi-disciplinary cross-integration and coordinated development. It has one national first-class undergraduate major construction site in animal science, 11 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites such as veterinary medicine, food science and engineering, and financial management, and 4 provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors. The discipline of "Animal Nutrition and Feed Science" is a key cultivation discipline in Henan Province. The school has successfully cultivated a new breed of "Huanghuai Meat Sheep", filling the gap in the field of meat sheep breeding in Henan Province. The school continues to deepen education and teaching reforms and continuously innovate talent training models. It has successively created talent training models such as "double-subject integration and division", "four-stage dual circulation", and "five-force collaborative school-enterprise cooperation". It has won 1 national teaching achievement special prize, 2 first prizes, and 3 second prizes; 5 provincial teaching achievement special prizes, 21 first prizes, and 17 second prizes. There is 1 provincial-level ideological and political demonstration center, 2 provincial-level ideological and political teaching teams, 7 provincial-level sample courses, 1 national-level first-class undergraduate course, 33 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses, 1 national-level planned textbook, 13 provincial-level planned textbooks, 14 provincial-level excellent grassroots teaching organizations, 3 provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching course groups, 14 provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, 2 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 14 provincial-level off-campus practical education bases. Focusing on the integrated discipline and professional system of animal husbandry, industry and commerce and the needs of talent training, the school has built 26 provincial-level scientific research platforms and 2 humanities and social science research bases, 5 provincial-level innovative science and technology teams, 33 municipal-level scientific research platforms, and 49 school-level scientific research innovation teams. Up to now, the school has approved 41 national fund projects, 4 sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program, 3 major projects of Henan Province, 693 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and 182 horizontal projects. 43 scientific research achievement awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above; 196 national invention patents; and 8,351 academic papers have been published. The school has successively become the executive director unit of the National Animal Husbandry Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, the vice-chairman unit of the Henan Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Society, the vice-chairman unit of the Henan International E-commerce Association, and the chairman unit of the Cold Chain Logistics Branch of the Henan Refrigeration Society. The school aims at the intersection of disciplinary and professional advantages and regional development needs, deepens the integration of industry and education, integrates the five major advantages of talent, scientific research, technology, think tank, and culture, and establishes an industrial service team with a "double-head" system, implements the "100 experts assisting 100 villages (enterprises)" project, and builds a school-local integration model of "university + platform + government", an industry-education integration model with industrial alliances as the link, and a school-enterprise cooperation model with projects as the carrier, to help enterprises develop villages and industries, improve education, assist research, and promote employment. Together with the Henan Provincial Animal Husbandry Bureau, local governments such as Yuanyang, Zhengyang, and Xinyang, as well as universities, research institutes, industry associations, and enterprises above designated size, we have jointly built the Animal Products Quality and Safety Technology Research Institute, the Rural (Industry) Revitalization Service Center, the Pre-prepared Food Technology Innovation Research Institute, the Food Industry Technology Research Institute, the Rural Revitalization and Precision Poverty Alleviation Research Institute, the Animal Husbandry Finance Research Institute, and a series of R&D centers, etc., focusing on the selection of industry problems and projects, and conducting applied research; together with industry leading enterprises such as "Muyuan", "Fengyuan Hepu", "Yuanfang", "Top Hui", and "Kaifeng Economic Development Digital Culture", we have jointly built the Smart Animal Husbandry Modern Industry College, Kunpeng Industry College, Home Economics Industry College, Art Design Industry College, and Art Finance Industry College, jointly building teams, resources, talents, and cooperative development. The school's social services actively help the development of enterprises, the prosperity of industries, the revitalization of rural areas, and the prosperity of farmers (businesses), and have been well received by the society. The school actively expands channels for foreign exchanges and deepens international exchanges and cooperation. It has established cooperative relations with more than 50 universities and research institutes in 27 countries and regions, including Ireland, Australia, and Canada. There are currently 1 undergraduate Sino-foreign cooperative education institution, 1 undergraduate Sino-foreign cooperative education project, and 5 junior college Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. The school supports teachers and students to exchange and study abroad and conduct joint academic research. It has built a country and regional research center registered with the Ministry of Education-Irish Research Center, the "Feed Resource Innovation and Utilization Studio" of the Henan International Talent Cooperation Project, and the international scientific research cooperation platform "Henan Ruminant Nutrition and Feed Resource Development International Joint Laboratory" and "Henan Animal Enteric Disease Prevention and Control International Joint Laboratory".
