Henan Communications Vocational and Technical College is located in Zhengzhou, an important birthplace of Chinese civilization, a national historical and cultural city, one of the eight ancient capitals of China, an important national comprehensive transportation hub, and a national central city. Founded in 1953, the school is affiliated to the Henan Provincial Department of Transportation and is an engineering college with distinctive transportation characteristics. The school has undergone historical evolutions such as the Henan Provincial Department of Transportation Cadre Training Class, Henan Provincial Transportation Cadre School, Zhengzhou Transportation College, and Henan Provincial Transportation School. In 2004, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college with the approval of the Henan Provincial People's Government; in 2014, it was named "Henan Civilized Unit"; in 2015, it was identified as a "Henan Vocational Education Brand Demonstration College" by the Provincial Department of Education, and in the same year it took the lead in the province to carry out targeted training of direct-recruited non-commissioned officers; in 2018, it became a postdoctoral innovation and practice base in Henan Province; in 2019, it was identified as a "national high-quality higher vocational college" by the Ministry of Education, becoming one of the 200 approved colleges in the country and 9 in the province; in 2020, it was awarded the title of "Henan Civilized Campus" and was identified by the Provincial Department of Education, Department of Finance, and Development and Reform Commission as a construction unit of Henan Province's "Higher Vocational Double High Project"; it was awarded the "National Postal Industry Talent Training Base" by the State Post Bureau; in 2021, it was recognized by the Ministry of Education as the first batch of national emergency education pilot schools; in 2022, it was selected as one of the 100 national higher vocational colleges with excellent student development index by the "China Vocational Education Quality Annual Report". The school has four campuses in Zhengdong New District, Hanghai Road, Taoyuan Road, Xinzheng Longhu and Jiyuan Xiaolangdi Comprehensive Training Base, covering a total area of 1,506 acres, a total building area of 474,300 square meters, teaching equipment with a total value of 239 million yuan, and total assets of 9.9.3 billion yuan, the library has a collection of more than 1.5 million books, a garden-style campus, a complete training venue, a modern library, an advanced gymnasium, and one of the top 100 canteens in the country, providing excellent conditions for teachers and students to cultivate themselves, study, learn, and live. The school closely connects with the transportation industry and regional economic and social development to open 39 majors, forming five key professional groups of road and bridge engineering technology, modern logistics management, intelligent transportation technology, construction engineering technology, and new energy vehicle technology. Cooperating with Tsinghua University Suzhou Automotive Research Institute and Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection Technology Co., Ltd. to build an intelligent networked new energy vehicle industry college, it is the first intelligent networked new energy vehicle industry college in the country. The Engineering Technology Group Company of the School of Transportation has more than ten qualifications, including Class A highway engineering supervision and Class A highway (water transport) engineering test and inspection, and has obtained 115 authorized patents and 2 international patents. It has participated in the formulation of more than 20 national standards, industry standards, group standards, local standards, etc. The "basalt fiber asphalt concrete pavement application technology" developed by the school has been included in the promotion catalog of scientific and technological achievements in transportation in Henan Province, and three projects, including "Research on key technologies for the application of basalt fiber and products in highway engineering", have been approved as key scientific and technological projects of the Ministry of Transport. Serving the military-civilian integration strategy, the school has formed a brand for the training of non-commissioned officers. The school is determined by the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense Mobilization and the Ministry of Education as a school for the targeted training of non-commissioned officers of the People's Liberation Army. It has cooperated with the Rocket Force, Air Force, Army and other services to carry out targeted training of non-commissioned officers in 5 advantageous majors. It has recruited more than 3,500 non-commissioned officers for targeted training. The scale of non-commissioned officer training ranks first in Henan and leads the country. Nearly 2,000 graduates of four classes have qualified for enlistment, 5 participated in the 70th anniversary of the National Day parade, and more than 10 people have been awarded for meritorious service in the army. The 2019 Joint Military-Civilian Conference on the Targeted Training of Non-commissioned Officers of the Rocket Force was held at the school.
