Henan Forestry Vocational College is located in Luoyang, the thousand-year-old imperial capital and the city of peony flowers. It is a provincial public full-time higher vocational college. Founded in April 1951, it is one of the five earliest forestry schools in the country. In the early days of its establishment, it was called "Luoyang Agricultural and Forestry Secondary Technical School of Henan Province". In August 1953, it was renamed "Luoyang Forestry School of Henan Province". In August 1958, it was upgraded to "Luoyang Forestry College of Henan Province". In August 1963, it was called "Luoyang Forestry School of Henan Province". Enrollment was stopped in 1966 and resumed in 1974. In February 1998, it was renamed "Henan Forestry School". In 2002, it was jointly run with Henan University of Science and Technology and became its secondary college, called "Henan University of Science and Technology Forestry Vocational College", and the two brands of "Henan Forestry School" existed at the same time. In April 2013, with the approval of the Henan Provincial People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education, it was independently established as the "Henan Forestry Vocational College" at the junior college level. The school is under the leadership of the Education Department. It is currently the only forestry vocational college in Henan Province and is known as the "cradle of forestry talents in Henan". The school is located at No. 2, Zhongzhou East Road, Chanhe District, Luoyang City. The campus covers an area of 520 acres, with a construction area of more than 200,000 square meters and fixed assets of 420 million yuan. It has complete infrastructure such as comprehensive teaching buildings, experimental buildings, training buildings, libraries, student apartments, restaurants, campus supermarkets, student activity centers, and standard track and field stadiums. The school library covers an area of 16,500 square meters and has a collection of 687,000 books and periodicals. The school has five provincial engineering and technology research centers, including "Henan Orchard Special Robots", "Henan Ancient Trees and Famous Trees Rejuvenation", "Henan Forest Health Care", "Henan Forestry and Fruit Resources Efficient Utilization", and "Forest Economy"; there are 2 key laboratories and engineering centers in Henan Forestry. It has a wildlife specimen museum, Luoyang cultural and creative training platform, Luoyang mobile Internet application technology training platform, garden training center, automobile assembly and maintenance training center, intelligent manufacturing training center, tourism training center and other experimental training and scientific research platforms, as well as 93 experimental training rooms for organizational culture, accounting simulation, network security, software engineering, animation production, film and television post-production, e-commerce, CNC machining, electronic and electrical technology application, drone application, etc., more than 2,500 computers for teaching, and a total value of 120 million yuan for teaching and experimental equipment. It has 130 off-campus internship and training bases. The school has 89 student clubs, and the number of students participating in club activities throughout the year remains above 5,000. There are currently 9,500 students on campus. It has 14 teaching colleges and departments, including the School of Ecological Engineering, the School of Tourism and Food, the School of Gardening and Horticulture, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Art, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Business, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Equipment, the School of Marxism, the Basic Teaching Department, the Sports and Military Teaching Department, the Industrial College, and the School of Continuing Education. It offers 43 junior college majors, of which mechatronics technology and computer network technology are national key majors; garden technology, garden engineering technology, horticultural technology, numerical control technology, forest ecotourism, and animation production technology are key majors in Henan Province; computer network technology, accounting, e-commerce, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, and mechatronics technology are provincial teaching demonstration majors. In 2020, the "Garden Technology" professional group was recognized as a high-level professional group by the Henan Provincial Department of Education, and the school entered the ranks of "double high" higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. The Henan Branch of the School of Continuing Education of Beijing Forestry University is located in our school, and currently offers undergraduate majors such as forestry, gardening, and computer science and technology. Henan Forestry Vocational College offers correspondence education for junior college degree, with three junior college majors, including garden technology, big data and accounting, and e-commerce. The school currently has 540 faculty and staff, including 160 dual-qualified teachers. Among the faculty and staff, there is 1 expert enjoying special allowance from the State Council, 2 vocational education experts in Henan Province, 4 academic and technical leaders in Henan Province, 5 high-level talents in Henan Province, and 15 subject leaders of the Henan Provincial Department of Education; 2 labor models in Luoyang City, 13 outstanding teachers in Luoyang City, 1 young science and technology expert in Luoyang City, and 1 outstanding expert in Luoyang City. The forestry technology professional teaching team has been recognized as the "Huang Danian-style teaching team of Henan Higher Vocational Schools". In recent years, the school's teachers have obtained 104 national patents, compiled and issued 5 forestry industry standards, 18 local standards in Henan Province, and cultivated 3 new varieties of trees. It has undertaken 55 national, provincial and municipal key teaching and scientific research projects, including 1 national forestry public welfare industry special project, 3 948 projects of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, and 2 national agricultural comprehensive development projects. Teachers have participated in the editing of more than 200 textbooks and published more than 2,000 papers in various formal journals. Every year, school competitions are organized to select students to participate in provincial competitions.
