Henan Vocational College of Industry and Trade is a provincial public higher vocational college. The school has a long history and profound cultural heritage. In 1950, the school’s predecessor, the grain cadre training class of the Henan Provincial Department of Finance, was established in Kaifeng, the provincial capital at the time. When the provincial capital was moved to Zhengzhou in 1953, the new school, which had been renamed Henan Provincial Grain Cadre School, was also located at No. 4 Yousheng North Road, Zhengzhou City. In 1965, the Henan Provincial Grain School was established, and together with the Henan Provincial Grain Cadre School, it was responsible for cultivating talents and cadre training in the province's grain industry. In 1997, the school was renamed Henan Economic and Trade School. In 2004, with the approval of the Henan Provincial People's Government and in 2005, the Henan Vocational College of Industry and Trade was established on the basis of the Henan Provincial Economic and Trade School, and the school entered the ranks of ordinary colleges and universities.
