Henan Police College is the only provincial public security undergraduate college in our province. Its predecessor was the security cadre training class of the CPC Yuxi District Committee established in February 1949. It has gone through the periods of Henan Provincial Public Security Cadre School, Henan Provincial People's Police School, and Henan Public Security College. In March 2010, Henan Police College was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In August 2012, Kaifeng Police School and Luoyang Police School were merged into Henan Police College. In November 2019, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2021, it was approved by the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and the Provincial Department of Finance as a key project cultivation and construction unit for the authorization of a master's degree in police affairs in Henan Province. The college is an important part of the public security organs in the province. It is the main channel for delivering new forces of Henan Public Security, the main position for training on-the-job police officers, the main platform for research on public security think tanks, and the main force for major security activities. It is known as the "cradle of police officers in the Central Plains". The college has 5,858 full-time students and trains 7,831 police officers annually. The college currently has 788 faculty members, including 553 professional and technical personnel in the teaching series, including 33 professors, 153 associate professors, 265 lecturers, and 102 teaching assistants; 96 doctors and 355 masters. There are currently members of the National Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee (Public Security Technology), 1 public security science and technology expert of the Ministry of Public Security, 4 national public security higher education teaching masters, 1 Henan Provincial Higher Education Teaching Master, 1 selected "Henan Province 100 Outstanding Young Social Science Theory Talent Training Project", 1 Henan Province Young and Middle-aged Jurist, 1 expert enjoying special allowances from the provincial government, 36 academic and technical leaders of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, 24 young backbone teachers of Henan Provincial Higher Education, and 12 outstanding education management talents of the Henan Provincial Department of Education. The college has 8 departments including investigation and public security, covering three first-level disciplines such as law, public security, and public security technology, including 4 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 8 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. In the evaluation of undergraduate majors in ordinary colleges and universities in Henan Province in 2023, 2 majors of our school were evaluated as B (domestic first-class) and 2 majors were evaluated as B-. There are 1 national-level high-quality resource sharing course, 21 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses, 1 provincial-level high-quality resource sharing course, 11 provincial-level high-quality online open courses, 12 provincial-level ideological and political model courses, 2 provincial-level excellent ideological and political theory courses, 4 provincial-level research-based teaching demonstration courses, 2 provincial-level specialization and innovation integration demonstration courses, 3 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 provincial-level ideological and political characteristic teaching research demonstration centers, 12 provincial-level excellent grassroots teaching organizations, 2 provincial-level virtual teaching and research rooms, 4 provincial-level ideological and political teaching teams, 2 provincial-level characteristic industry colleges, 1 Henan Provincial College Huang Danian-style Teacher Team, 9 provincial and ministerial-level teaching achievement awards, and 43 provincial-level teaching competition awards. The two provincial key disciplines of public security and investigation of the college successfully passed the acceptance of the ninth batch of key disciplines in Henan Province in 2023. Three disciplines including police, public security, and public security technology were selected into the list of key disciplines in the new round of construction in Henan Province. There are 2 key laboratories at the college level and 1 key cultivation laboratory. There are 4 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms (Henan Public Security Big Data Engineering Technology Research Center, Henan New Cyber Crime Combating and Governance Engineering Technology Research Center, Henan Public Security Grassroots Governance Engineering Technology Research Center, Henan Smart Traffic Police Engineering Technology Research Center). There are 2 key research bases for humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities in the province: Central Plains Public Security Research Center and Henan Road Traffic Safety Research Institute. More than 200 national and provincial scientific research projects have been completed. The Provincial Public Security Department established the Henan Police Strategy Research Center in the college as the only platform for conducting theoretical research on police work in the Central Plains region and providing police strategic decision-making consultation. The research results of the center have been approved by provincial leaders many times. In 2022, it was successfully selected as one of the top ten influential new think tanks in Henan universities, and it is committed to creating the "strongest brain" for public security decision-making. Since the college started academic education in 1978, it has trained and sent more than 40,000 graduates to the provincial public security team. Ren Changxia, the most beautiful struggler in New China, is a model of the college's graduates. In recent years, it has completed more than 10 major tasks such as the security of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and has been awarded 4 collective second-class merits and 1 collective third-class merit by the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial Public Security Department. As the practical training base for the police of the Ministry of Public Security, it has hosted 7 practical training competitions for the national traffic police system and the Ministry of Public Security's international law enforcement personnel training tasks, and went to Uruguay for foreign aid training. The college currently has three campuses, located in Zhengzhou, Kaifeng and Luoyang, covering a total area of more than 1,390 acres. There are 46 on-campus experimental training rooms, 71 off-campus internship training bases, and a collection of more than 1.05 million paper books. The college is a civilized campus in Henan Province and a provincial safe campus.
