Henan Vocational College of Economics and Trade, formerly known as Henan Commercial Cadre School (founded in 1950 on Xueyuanmen Street, Kaifeng) and Henan Commercial School (founded in 1960 on Jiejian Street, Zhengzhou), was co-located at No. 36 Nongye Road, Zhengzhou in 1990; in 2001, it jointly operated with Henan University of Finance and Economics (formerly Henan University of Finance and Economics); in 2004, it was independently upgraded to Henan Vocational College of Economics and Trade. In June 2019, it was recognized by the Ministry of Education as a national-level high-quality junior college; in August 2020, it became a construction unit of the "Double High Project" in Henan Province. The school adheres to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply promotes the "Six Major Projects", builds "civilized economy and trade", "harmonious economy and trade", "beautiful economy and trade", "smart economy and trade", "high-quality economy and trade", and "happy economy and trade", and has won more than 100 honorary titles such as the National Advanced Collective of the Education System, the National Advanced Collective of Vocational Education, the National Model Workers' Home, and the Model of Civilized Campus in Henan Province; it has been approved as the first batch of exemplary higher vocational colleges in Henan Province, the pilot unit for the construction of smart campuses in Henan Province, the garden unit in Henan Province, the provincial safe campus, and the pilot unit for the construction of modern school system in Henan Province. The school's distributed school layout includes the Longzihu main campus, the Agricultural Road campus, and the Baiyang Road campus, covering an area of 847.8 acres and a construction area of 429,000 square meters. The main campus is located at No. 58, Longzihu North Road, Longzihu University Park. It currently has 11 secondary colleges, including the School of Finance, School of Accounting, School of Smart Finance, School of Business, School of Management, School of Foreign Languages and Tourism, School of Internet of Things, School of Computer Engineering, School of Engineering Economics, School of Art and Design, and School of Culture and Education. There are 8 teaching auxiliary departments, including the School of Marxism (School of Formative Education), School of International Education (School of Continuing Education), School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Industry-Education Integration Promotion Center, Mental Health Education Center, Modern Education Information Center, Physical Education Department, and Library. The school is based on the "three transformations" of vocational education reform, adheres to the "four orientations and four focuses", strengthens the consensus that "all resources inside and outside the school are teaching resources", and establishes the development path of "based in Longzihu, embracing the smart island, and serving the Central Plains". In response to the new opportunities brought about by the new normal of the economy and the supply-side structural reform, the school takes "highlighting business, non-business integration" as its school-running characteristics, and the majors it opens focus on "solid foundation, strong skills, digital intelligence empowerment", forming a business-oriented major, coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as economics, management, engineering, literature, and art, and cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents, skilled craftsmen, and great country craftsmen. We will start with 10 major categories of majors, including finance and commerce, electronics and information, civil engineering, culture and art, education and sports, public management and services, news and communication, tourism, transportation, and food, medicine and grain, and build 10 major professional groups (accounting, e-commerce, financial management, industrial and commercial management, big data technology, Internet of Things, tourism management, visual communication design, engineering cost, and preschool education) at a high standard. We will develop 4 national key majors (big data and financial management, online marketing and live e-commerce, Internet of Things application technology, and computer application technology) and 13 provincial characteristic demonstration or key majors with high quality. We will build a professional manager incubation center for the catering industry, a talent incubation center for the digital economy, and a collaborative innovation center for Hongmeng intelligent applications from a high starting point. We will drive the overall leap of the training base with physical operation, lead the transformation and development of all majors with digital transformation, and organize direction classes and workshop classes in the form of logic classes to lead the expansion and strengthening of related majors. The school highlights the technical content and academic level of professional and technical positions, and highlights organized and applied scientific research. It has a team of teachers who are capable of both theoretical and practical teaching, and a group of high-level vocational college teachers’ teaching innovation teams, demonstrating and leading high-quality “double-qualified” teachers, and striving to be “four-good” teachers. The first party branch of the School of Accounting was rated as a national model branch cultivation and creation unit for party building work, and the management (accounting) teaching team was awarded the Huang Danian-style teacher team of national colleges and universities by the Ministry of Education. The e-commerce teaching team is the first batch of national vocational education teacher teaching innovation teams, and there are 9 provincial teaching teams, 3 provincial skill master studios, and 3 municipal skill master studios. Since 2015, the school has successively co-organized accounting and marketing majors with the Northern Institute of Applied Technology in Canada; co-organized accounting majors with the Australian Elite Higher Education Institute; and co-organized human resources management and business management majors with the Century University of Malaysia; in 2017, it hosted the IT technology training course for South Sudan assisted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China to cultivate scarce talents for the reconstruction of South Sudan, which had just experienced war; in 2018, it successfully obtained the qualification for international student enrollment and realized enrollment, recruiting 39 international students from Pakistan and other countries along the “Belt and Road”; and selected more than 20 teachers to study and exchange in the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Malaysia and other countries.
