Henan Vocational College of Geology and Mineral Resources was founded in 1956. It is the only public higher vocational college of geology and mineral resources in China and is now affiliated to the Henan Provincial Department of Education. With a history of more than 60 years, the school has sent nearly 50,000 outstanding talents to the land and resources industry inside and outside the province, and has cultivated a large number of decision-makers and leaders of large land and resources enterprises, and condensed the school motto of "Mingde, Jingye, Diligence, and Innovation". The college is located in Baisha Vocational Education Park, Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou City, covering an area of nearly 400 acres. The campus environment is beautiful and tidy. The library has a collection of more than 300,000 books and has achieved full coverage of campus wireless network. There are 55 on-campus experimental training sites. There is a professional off-campus training base that can meet the off-campus life and study of nearly a thousand teachers and students. There are school-enterprise co-construction enterprises such as geotechnical engineering design institutes, vocational skills appraisal stations, property companies and other skills appraisal and social service agencies. There are 66 stable off-campus internship training bases and more than 200 cooperative enterprises, which have opened up a broad stage for students' experiments, internships, skills training and various social practice activities. The college currently has 290 full-time teachers, 79 teachers with the title of associate professor or above, 191 teachers with master's degree or above, 1 provincial vocational education teaching expert, 20 academic and technical leaders of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, and 6 outstanding teachers in Henan Province. There are 146 dual-qualified teachers with national registered geotechnical engineers, registered constructors, and registered cost engineers. There are nearly 8,000 full-time higher vocational students. The college offers 21 majors including hydrology and engineering geology, geological survey and mineral census, gem identification and processing, engineering cost, engineering surveying technology, drone application technology, computer application technology, new energy vehicle technology, cloud computing technology application, big data and accounting, hotel management and digital operation, and environmental art design. Among them, the featured majors cover the land resources and geological and mineral industries as well as urban construction, transportation, water conservancy, IT, automobile and other industries, with distinct school and industry characteristics. The college has worked closely with the Henan Provincial Department of Land and Resources and leading enterprises in the geological and mineral industry to carry out joint school-enterprise talent training, implemented an integrated teaching model of "job-course-competition-certificate", and established long-term and stable school-enterprise cooperation relationships with hundreds of employers in and outside the province. The employment rate has remained above 97% year after year, and "high quality, high employment, and high success" has become a well-known brand of the school's talent training.
