Henan Vocational College of Surveying and Mapping is the only full-time general higher vocational college in the country for surveying and mapping and geographic information approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government in 2017 and registered by the Ministry of Education of China. It is under the management of the Henan Provincial Department of Education. In May 2020, the Provincial Department of Education issued a document to abolish the original Zhengzhou Surveying and Mapping School, and the school's personnel, finances and materials were transferred to Henan Vocational College of Surveying and Mapping. The main campus of the school is located at No. 30, Gongmao Road, Baisha Park, Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou City, adjacent to the beautiful Xianghu Lake, covering an area of more than 300 acres, with a planned construction area of 202,500 square meters, of which 129,000 square meters have been built; a field training base covering an area of more than 600 acres has been built in Dengfeng. The school currently has 8 teaching departments including surveying and mapping engineering, remote sensing engineering, spatial information engineering, land information and management, computer engineering, economic management, art, and sports, 2 teaching departments including basic and ideological and political education, and 3 colleges including the Space-Time Big Data Industry College, Henan Surveying and Mapping Technology Industry College, and Continuing Education College. It offers 38 majors including engineering surveying technology, photogrammetry and remote sensing technology, drone surveying and mapping technology, surveying and mapping geographic information technology, land resources survey and management, computer network technology, big data and accounting, modern logistics management, and music performance. The school has more than 12,000 students. The school currently has 367 faculty members, with a team of high-level teachers with rich experience, rigorous scholarship, and love for their jobs. Among them, there are 4 senior professional and technical positions, 60 deputy senior professional and technical positions; 1 doctoral degree teacher, 172 master's degree teachers; 182 "dual-qualified" teachers, 22 famous teachers, academic and technical leaders, and backbone teachers. The school has advanced teaching equipment and has built a number of professional teaching and training rooms such as virtual simulation training rooms, drone simulation flights, and drone data processing centers, and is equipped with instruments and software systems that are equivalent to the operating level of industry units. The school conscientiously implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, adheres to the school-running direction of facing the market, serving development, and promoting employment, implements the "Five One Education Project" for the cultivation of distinctive talents, and builds an education system for the comprehensive cultivation of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, and cultivates high-skilled talents with school characteristics and comprehensive development in an all-round and multi-level manner. The school pays attention to foreign exchanges and cooperation, especially international cooperation and exchanges with countries along the Belt and Road, and cooperates with Rostov State University of Transport in Russia in the major of computer network technology. The college continues to deepen school-enterprise cooperation and the integration of production and education, and jointly builds a talent co-education platform of "learning, doing, and teaching". We have introduced cooperative units such as "Henan Top Beidou Surveying and Mapping Technology Co., Ltd." and "Beijing Zhongse Surveying and Mapping Institute Co., Ltd." to the campus, and jointly built teaching practice bases and university student employment and entrepreneurship practice bases with many units such as "Surveying and Mapping Information Engineering Institute of Yellow River Surveying, Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd.", "China Construction Railway Investment Precision Measurement Center", and "China Shipbuilding Surveying and Design Institute Co., Ltd.". We have formed a long-term mechanism for school-enterprise cooperation in education of "joint cultivation of talents, joint management of processes, shared responsibilities, and shared results", built unimpeded employment channels for graduates, and made important contributions to national strategies and local economy.
