Hengyang Preschool Teachers College is a full-time general college approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province, registered by the Ministry of Education, and organized by the People's Government of Hengyang City. The school was merged and upgraded from Leiyang Normal School, Hengyang Art School, and Hengyang Preschool Teachers School. The former Leiyang Normal School was founded in 1958, mainly training primary school teachers, and was known as the "leader of secondary normal education in southern Hunan"; the former Hengyang Art School was founded in 1960, mainly inheriting local opera and cultivating secondary art talents, and was known as the "cradle of artists in southern Hunan"; the former Hengyang Preschool Teachers College was founded in 1980, and was one of the earliest schools in the province to offer preschool education majors, enjoying the reputation of "Changsha Normal School in the north and Hengyang Preschool Teachers College in the south".
