Hohhot Vocational College is a full-time higher vocational school established in 2002 with the approval of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and registered by the Ministry of Education. It is also the only higher vocational college directly under the jurisdiction of Hohhot City. The history of the college can be traced back to the Guisui Normal School in 1907. It is known as the "high-skilled talent training base" and the "cradle of teachers". In the past 20 years of higher vocational education, it has trained more than 65,000 applied talents, and a large number of outstanding graduates have grown into the backbone of education, management, production and service, making important contributions to promoting national unity and progress and promoting the economic, social and educational development of Inner Mongolia. The college is a "double college", "high-quality higher vocational college" and "demonstration higher vocational college" in the autonomous region. It has 15 departments (divisions), 3 teaching auxiliary departments, 13 administrative offices and 2 mass organizations. The college covers an area of 2005.49 acres, with a total building area of 580,700 square meters; the total value of fixed assets is nearly 1.37 billion yuan, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 281 million yuan; the library has a building area of 49,300 square meters, and the total amount of documents in the library is equivalent to 1,436,442 volumes. There are 15,197 full-time college students; 1,122 faculty and staff, including 844 full-time teachers, of which 52% are "double-qualified" teachers, 48.9% are senior professional teachers, 74.1% are teachers with master's and doctoral degrees, and 33 teachers have doctoral degrees. There are 10 autonomous region-level teaching masters, 10 autonomous region-level teaching teams, 9 autonomous region-level teaching newcomers, 7 selected for the autonomous region's "New Century 321 Talent Project", 2 selected for the autonomous region's "511 Talent Training Project", 1 winner of the Autonomous Region Youth Innovation Talent Award, and 1 "Grassland Talent". The college employs a total of 220 modern industry mentors and "part-time teachers" from the front line of industry enterprises, accounting for 26.07% of the number of full-time teachers, and the teaching hours of part-time teachers account for 25.94% of the professional course hours; 10 foreign visiting professors are specially hired. In the past three years, teachers and students have won more than 250 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, including 20 national awards. In the selection of the teaching achievement awards of the autonomous region in the past two sessions, 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes for vocational education teaching achievements were won. The college currently has 60 enrollment majors. There are 471 on-campus practical teaching sites, 10 professional virtual simulation training bases, 49 "1+X" skill level assessment training bases, and 4 production and technical service training bases. The college has substantially operated 14 school-enterprise cooperation projects on industry-education integration with 273 enterprises including State Grid Mengdong, Xinte Silicon, Hongyuan New Materials, and Inner Mongolia Building. The school and enterprises have jointly built 9 industry-education integration training bases, 4 production training bases, 3 industrial colleges, 4 teacher enterprise practice mobile stations, and 2 enterprise employee training bases; cooperated with central enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and top 500 industry leading enterprises to carry out 8 order training majors and set up 24 order classes. The college is the vice chairman unit of 6 national-level industry-education integration communities. In 2023, the college had a total of 4,684 graduates. As of September 1, 2023, the implementation rate of graduates was 97.42%, including: more than 1,200 people employed in central enterprises, state-owned enterprises and top 500 enterprises in the country, joined the army, were admitted to policy positions, studied abroad, etc., accounting for 25%; 1,608 people were promoted from junior college to undergraduate, accounting for 33.44%, achieving the simultaneous improvement of the implementation rate of graduates and the quality of employment. In the past five years, the college has been approved for 276 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, and 103 municipal projects. Teachers have published a total of 1,396 papers, published 239 books, obtained 159 patents, 88 software copyrights, and won 111 awards at the municipal level and above. From 2019 to 2023, the college teachers signed a total of 26 horizontal projects with enterprises and institutions, with a total contract amount of 1.4665 million yuan. Among them, 13 projects were signed in 2023, and the contract amount was 1.0565 million yuan. The college has "one school, two stations, and 20 bases", which undertakes vocational skills training and skills appraisal in Hohhot and surrounding areas. In the past five years, a total of 106,609 people have been trained, with an average of 21,321.8 people per year, and a training income of 28.4555 million yuan, an average of 5.6911 million yuan per year. The college is the vice chairman unit of the International Cooperation Alliance of Vocational Education in the New Land-Sea Corridor, a member unit of the China Education International Exchange Association, and a member unit of the "Belt and Road" Vocational Education Alliance. Since 2007, the college has cooperated with Vitebsk State University of Belarus and Brest State Industrial University of Belarus to organize 6 professional degree education programs. In 2023, the college was rated as a "vocational school with a high international level" in the autonomous region. The college adheres to the school motto of "cultivating morality and seeking knowledge through investigation of things" and the spirit of the century-old school of "passing on the torch and stopping at perfection", and promotes the construction of "improving quality and cultivating excellence", "double colleges" and "vocational undergraduate" in an integrated manner.
