The Hong Kong Metropolitan University (formerly known as the Hong Kong Metropolitan University) is a well-managed, high-quality, diversified and comprehensive university that provides high-quality higher education. It also offers full-time bachelor's degrees, postgraduate degrees, and part-time courses. The university has been cultivating talents needed for all walks of life in the society and has made far-reaching contributions to the economic development of Hong Kong. In order to cooperate with the higher education policy of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Hong Kong Metropolitan University enrolled full-time students in 2001. Like other government-funded public universities, the courses offered by the university cover undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, and are mainly taught in English. All degrees awarded are recognized by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. According to the "Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Recognition of Higher Education Degree Certificates between the Mainland and Hong Kong" signed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 2004, the degrees awarded by the Hong Kong Metropolitan University are recognized by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. With the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the university can directly enroll full-time undergraduate students from the Mainland. The university has six colleges and seven research centers. It currently has about 9,400 full-time undergraduates, 1,100 postgraduates, and 8,700 working students. To date, more than 130,000 graduates have been awarded degrees by the Hong Kong Metropolitan University. The university is committed to offering practical courses and actively responding to the needs of social development, including courses in creative arts, business, early childhood education, nursing, testing and certification. At the same time, it has invested a lot of resources to equip brand-new teaching facilities, including cultural and creative studios and laboratories, testing and certification laboratories, and nursing laboratories. The curriculum design of the Hong Kong Metropolitan University focuses on experiential learning, providing students with early career guidance and promoting their holistic development. Since its establishment, the Hong Kong Metropolitan University has successively carried out several campus development plans to cope with the rapid growth of courses and the number of students. In addition to the Ho Man Tin Main Campus and the Jockey Club Campus, the university also completed and opened the new Jockey Club Health Care College Building at the end of 2020 to cultivate health care professionals and provide students with more advanced learning facilities and space. * There are three types of universities in Hong Kong: (1) government-founded and funded universities; (2) government-founded and self-financing universities; and (3) private and self-financing universities.
