Honghe University is a full-time public undergraduate college that was born in reform, grew up in opening up, and developed in innovation. It is "co-built and co-managed by the province and mainly by the province". Its predecessor was Mengzi Teachers College founded in 1978. In April 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Mengzi Teachers College and Yunnan Radio and Television University Honghe Branch merged to form Honghe University. The school is located in Mengzi City, the capital of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, and is the only undergraduate college in Honghe Prefecture. It was officially approved to start undergraduate education in 2003, obtained the right to confer bachelor's degrees in 2007, passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2012, and passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2018. "Since its establishment, it has trained 46,000 high-quality applied talents who can "go down, stay, and use" for Yunnan. The school has deeply implemented the construction of undergraduate application-oriented connotations, comprehensively deepened the credit system reform, and actively carried out innovation and practice of high-level applied university talent training models for the society, industry, and industry. It has successively established the Purple Pottery College, Honghe-IFLYTEK Artificial Intelligence Industry College, Digital Economy Industry College, and Cross-border E-commerce Industry College with local governments and well-known enterprises.
