Huaibei Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general higher vocational college established in 1999 with the approval of the Ministry of Education and organized by the Huaibei Municipal People's Government. It was established by merging the former Huaibei Education College, Huaibei Mining Bureau Staff University, Anhui TV University Huaibei Branch, Huaibei Finance School, and Huaibei Technical School. In August 2023, Huaibei Health School was fully incorporated. It is a model higher vocational college in Anhui Province, a local skill-based high-level university construction unit in Anhui Province, and a "double-high" school construction unit in Anhui Province. The college is located in Huaibei City, Anhui Province, a national civilized city, a national forest city, and a national energy base. It currently has two campuses in Lieshan and Xiangshan, covering an area of more than 1,300 acres and a construction area of more than 500,000 square meters; the total value of fixed assets is nearly 1 billion yuan, of which the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment assets is more than 100 million yuan. The college has 26 provincial teaching teams, 13 demonstration experimental training centers, and more than 10 "master studios" of Yangtze River Scholars, national model workers, and well-known experts. The college has been listed as a demonstrative vocational college with key support by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, and has won the honorary titles of "Advanced Unit of Ideological and Political Education for College Students in Anhui Province", "Model Unit of Employment of Graduates from Ordinary Colleges and Universities in Anhui Province", "Model School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education for College Students in Ordinary Colleges and Universities in Anhui Province", "Unit with Outstanding Contribution to Employment of Veterans in Anhui Province", "Garden-style Unit in Anhui Province", "Advanced Collective of National Unity and Progress Creation Activities in the Province", "National Demonstration Unit of Conservative Public Institutions", etc. It is a pilot unit for the comprehensive reform of "Three-dimensional Education" in Anhui Province, a unit for the construction of colleges and universities with ideological and political courses in Anhui Province, and the second batch of school-enterprise cooperation demonstration schools in Anhui Province. The college focuses on higher vocational education, and various forms of education such as five-year junior college, three-year technical secondary school, Huaibei Open University, adult higher education and social training go hand in hand. It has 12 teaching units, including the Department of Medicine, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Computer Science and Technology, the Department of Arts and Crafts, the Department of Finance and Economics, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Construction Engineering, the Basic Department, the Ideological and Political Department, the Five-Year College Department, the Applied Chemical Industry College and the Huaibei Health School, and more than 40 higher vocational majors, among which primary education and preschool education are state-controlled education majors; nursing, mechatronics technology, preschool education, clothing and apparel design, big data and accounting, e-commerce, computer application technology, hotel management and digital operations, and construction engineering technology are provincial specialty majors. The college has always adhered to the school motto of "dedication to work, learning, morality and skills", insisted on market demand and employment as the orientation, highlighted the characteristics of vocational education, and was committed to cultivating highly skilled application-oriented talents. It has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the People's Government of Suixi County and the six major economic and technological development zones (industrial parks) in Huaibei City; it has carried out order training with well-known enterprises, and has successively opened "Ruixing Class", "Chery Class", "Quanta Class", "Century Jingxin Class", "Meizhi Class", "Haier Class", "China Coal Mine Construction Class", etc., which has promoted the seamless connection between professional education and professional positions. The Huaibei Modern Vocational Education Alliance, which was established in the lead, has enriched the form of running schools; it has cooperated with more than ten universities in Germany, South Korea, Japan and other countries to build a bridge for the college to communicate with the world. The college recruits students from more than 10 provinces, cities and autonomous regions across the country, and currently has more than 10,000 full-time higher vocational students. The main forms of enrollment are "classified examination enrollment", "national unified enrollment of ordinary colleges and universities" and "'3+2' five-year higher vocational enrollment". In the more than 20 years since the college was established, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 95%, and a total of more than 80,000 technical and skilled talents of various types have been trained, making positive contributions to the regional economic and social development.
