Huainan Union University was established in September 1984. It is a comprehensive higher vocational college sponsored by the Huainan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. It is a local skill-based high-level university construction unit in Anhui Province, a professional group construction unit of the "Double High Plan" in Anhui Province, and the chairman and secretariat unit of the Huainan Vocational Education Group. In 1997 and 2004, the school successively integrated the Huainan Branch of Anhui Radio and Television University and Huainan Workers University, and implemented the "one institution, three brands" school-running system. In 2022, the Huainan Branch of Anhui Radio and Television University was renamed Huainan Open University. In the same year, 8 secondary vocational schools including Huainan Health School and Huainan Transportation Secondary Vocational School and 1 municipal hospital (Huainan Third People's Hospital) were fully incorporated into our school. The school currently has 4 campuses in Tianjia'an District, 2 campuses in the Vocational Education Park of the High-tech Zone, and 1 campus in Panji District, covering an area of about 1,600 acres. It has 8 colleges including the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Pharmacy and Materials, the School of Humanities and Foreign Languages, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Architecture and Art, the School of Medicine, and the School of Public Education. There are 2 teaching institutions, the School of Continuing Education and the School of Marxism, 3 secondary schools including Huainan Health School, Huainan Transportation Secondary Vocational School, and Panji Engineering Technology Secondary Vocational School, and 1 municipal affiliated hospital (Huainan Third People's Hospital). The school headquarters currently has a total of more than 23,000 students of all types. Among them, there are more than 14,000 ordinary higher vocational students, nearly 1,700 students in the five-year secondary vocational stage, and more than 8,000 students in TV universities and adult education. The school currently has 713 full-time teachers. Among them, there are 23 professors, 172 associate professors, senior engineers and other associate senior titles, 67% of full-time teachers have a master's degree or above, and the proportion of "dual-qualified" teachers at all levels among full-time teachers reaches 48%. The school currently has 2 joint training majors for colleges and universities, 42 permanent higher vocational majors, involving 14 major categories and 30 professional disciplines. Among them, the national backbone majors include construction engineering technology, the construction majors supported by the central government include mechatronics technology and applied chemical technology, and the provincial specialty majors include applied chemical technology, electrical automation technology, mechatronics technology, applied English, big data and accounting, construction engineering technology, legal affairs, nursing, engineering cost, e-commerce, computer application technology, computer network technology, etc. 12, the professional settings match the local industries in Huainan City and surrounding areas by 98%, and have cultivated a large number of technical and skilled talents for local economic and social development. The school has successively taken the lead in establishing the "Huainan Vocational Education Group", "Huainan Veterans Vocational Education Training Alliance", "Huainan Rural Revitalization Training Base", "Huainan Rural Revitalization Research Institute", etc., which have made important contributions to the economic and social transformation and development of Huainan and rural revitalization. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, the school's operating conditions and functions have been increasingly improved. A total of 144 on-campus experimental training rooms with advanced equipment have been built, including nursing, smart elderly care, big data and accounting, smart logistics, e-commerce, intelligent manufacturing, pharmaceutical chemicals, information engineering, construction engineering, hotel management, preschool education, VR virtual simulation, etc. It has established long-term and stable school-enterprise cooperation relations with more than 100 well-known enterprises inside and outside the province, and has built more than 300 internship and training bases inside and outside the school. Among them, there are 3 national-level training bases such as the National Vocational Education Training Base for Electrical Automation Technology, the Digital Industrial Park Productive Training Base, and the National Postal Industry Training Base, as well as 7 provincial-level school-enterprise cooperation training bases such as preschool education, and 1 Sino-German "dual system" training center. It has been approved for 2 of the first batch of industry-education integration community cultivation projects in Anhui Province and 1 municipal industry-education consortium cultivation project. The school fully implements the Party’s education policy, conscientiously implements the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection of Anhui and the important instructions on vocational education, thoroughly implements the Vocational Education Law, takes service development as its purpose, promotes employment as its orientation, and focuses on improving quality, closely connects with the “6+1” industrial development needs of Huainan City, actively integrates into the “Yangtze River Delta” integrated development strategy, comprehensively promotes vocational education reform, actively innovates the talent training model of vocational education, and has embarked on a distinctive development path. It has successively won more than 30 provincial and municipal honorary titles, including “Anhui Provincial Civilized Unit”, “Anhui Provincial Advanced Unit for Student Management of Ordinary Colleges and Universities”, “Anhui Provincial Advanced Collective for Employment of College Graduates”, “Excellent Organization Award for Anhui Vocational College Skills Competition”, and “Huainan Civilized Campus”.
