The School of Pharmacy and Nursing of Hubei Medical College was established in March 2003 (Ejiaofa [2003] No. 31). It is an independent college established by Hubei Medical College with the approval of Hubei Provincial Department of Education. It is the only independent medical undergraduate college in Hubei Province (Jiaofa [2004] No. 12). 1. School Conditions At present, the college's own property rights cover an area of 1,268.8 acres, and the school building area is 110,974.51 square meters, of which the self-owned property rights teaching and administrative area is 60,098 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment has reached 47.1543 million yuan, which can ensure the normal development of teaching. Now it has 724,100 books, which can basically meet the needs of talent training. The college has a relatively complete professional setting, focusing on undergraduate education, and appropriately retaining junior college education. There are 12 undergraduate majors in five-year clinical medicine, anesthesiology, preventive medicine and four-year nursing, medical laboratory technology, pharmacy, rehabilitation therapy, medical imaging technology, public utilities management, information resource management, pharmaceutical engineering, and software engineering. In 2010, all undergraduate majors of the college passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation organized by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education; in 2012, it was approved by the Hubei Provincial Academic Degree Committee as a bachelor's degree authorization unit, and all undergraduate majors have obtained bachelor's degree review authorization, and can award bachelor's degrees in medicine, science, and management. The college currently has 408 faculty members, 383 full-time teachers, and 133 external teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 218 teachers have senior professional titles, accounting for 56.92% of the total number of full-time teachers, 122 teachers have intermediate professional titles, accounting for 31.85% of the total number of full-time teachers; 43 teachers have primary professional titles, accounting for 11.23% of the total number of full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 347 have master's degrees or above, accounting for 90.60% of the total number of full-time teachers. In recent years, with the strong support of the host universities and on the basis of resource sharing, the college has adhered to the principle of "efficient and reasonable allocation", taking the road of combining full-time and part-time teaching and focusing on full-time teaching, vigorously introducing talents, and continuously expanding the scale of the teaching staff. The teaching staff assigned by the parent school remains relatively stable, and the academic qualifications and age structure of teachers are more reasonable. The college currently has affiliated hospitals-Shenzhen Pingshan New District People's Hospital, Clinical College-Danjiangkou First Hospital, and shares 6 affiliated teaching hospitals with the parent school, including Shiyan Taihe Hospital, Shiyan People's Hospital, Dongfeng Company General Hospital, Xiangyang First People's Hospital, Suizhou Central Hospital, and Ankang Central Hospital. Each teaching hospital has standardized management, strong faculty, advanced medical equipment, and complete professional teaching equipment to meet the clinical teaching needs of various majors. At the same time, the college has also built 51 clinical practice hospitals in first-tier cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Chengdu, such as Shanghai Oriental Hospital, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Southern Medical University Southern Hospital, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, Hubei Provincial People's Hospital, Guangzhou Military Region Wuhan General Hospital, and Chongqing Third Military Medical University Affiliated Southwest Hospital. 2. Internal Management The School of Pharmacy and Nursing has established a board of directors as the decision-making body of the college. The resolutions of the board of directors are standardized and efficient. The board of directors is responsible for the development direction, school-running policy, and development plan of the School of Pharmacy and Nursing, and is responsible for the selection of the legal representative, dean, and vice dean of the college and the management system, and deliberates and guides major issues such as the professional construction and talent training of the college. The college implements the dean responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors, and the dean of the college is the legal representative. At present, the college is actively and steadily promoting the reform of the college in accordance with the decision of "high integration and gradual return". It performs the legal person responsibilities of ordinary colleges and universities externally; internally, as a management-type secondary college of Hubei Medical College, it performs relevant management functions. The college currently has 1 party secretary, 1 dean, 2 deputy party secretaries (concurrently), and 1 vice dean. There is an office at the department level. The original asset and finance department, teaching management department, enrollment and employment department, human resources department, and student affairs department (Youth League Committee) retain their names (added to the corresponding functional departments of Hubei Medical College), and their functions are respectively integrated into the headquarters' Finance Department, Academic Affairs Office, Enrollment Office, Personnel Office, and Student Affairs Office. 29 functional departments, teaching units and teaching auxiliary units of the school have added the name of the School of Pharmacy and Nursing, so that the teaching, scientific research, student management, student party building, security, national defense education, logistics services, etc. of the School of Pharmacy and Nursing are highly integrated with the work of the school, and the "one team, two brands" are implemented. The college conforms to the reform and earnestly carries out the branch reorganization. It has established 11 college party committees, 7 student party branches and 1 teaching staff party branch, which are responsible for the party member development and party building work of employees and students. At present, the school and the college have issued the "Implementation Opinions on Improving the Operation Mechanism of Student Education, Teaching and Management Services of the School of Pharmacy and Nursing in the "Transition Period"" and "Several Opinions of the School of Pharmacy and Nursing of Hubei Medical College on Standardizing Administrative Management Work of Relevant Functional Departments", and the reform of the college is progressing steadily. 3. School Achievements The college has always been under the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee's College Working Committee, the Provincial Department of Education, and the Party Committee of the school, adhering to the concept of people-centered and basic-oriented, deeply studying and implementing the important expositions of Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era on education work and the spirit of the national and provincial education conferences, improving various service mechanisms, and steadily advancing the reform of the college. In 2010, the college was rated as "National Advanced Independent College"; in 2011, the college party committee was awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization" by the Shiyan Municipal Party Committee; in 2011, the Student Aid Center was awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Unit for Student Loans in Hubei Province"; in 2012, the first party branch of the college faculty was awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Group of Two Visits and Two Creations Activities in Colleges and Universities in 2011" by the Hubei Provincial College Working Committee and Education Department; in 2012, the Youth League Committee was rated as "Advanced Grassroots Unit for Ideological and Political Education in Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province"; in 2013, the Student Affairs Department was awarded the title of "Advanced Grassroots Unit for Ideological and Political Education in Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province"; in 2015, the college was awarded the title of "Top 50 Independent Colleges in China in 2015". In 2016, the college ranked third in the "2016 Selection of the Most Influential Private Colleges in Hubei Province", and it was also the only prefecture-level independent college to be shortlisted in the top ten. In 2018, the college ranked seventh among the 262 independent colleges in the country in the "Wu Shulian 2018 China Independent College Admission Rate Ranking". Since its establishment, the college has continuously explored talent training goals, adhered to the employment-oriented and "quality-oriented, ability-oriented" education philosophy, and is committed to cultivating "good moral character, solid foundation, outstanding skills, distinctive, and innovative" applied skills-based higher medical and health talents. Build a four-level student scientific research system of "national-provincial-school-college". In 2018 alone, 20 provincial-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training programs (innovation training projects) were established. In the first national anatomical drawing competition, the 2015 clinical professional students of our college won the first prize in the country. At the same time, the college is guided by social needs, and promotes the entrepreneurship of our college around the close integration of "Healthy China" and the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system, the close integration of the development needs of the biomedicine industry in northwestern Hubei, and the close integration of the characteristics of the medical profession. We have developed the "O-Chol Baile Shuang" project combining the local industry of Shiyan - Fangxian rice wine, the "Resveratrol" and "Motherwort Health Breast Pads" projects combining market demand, the "Best Doctor" project combining the development requirements of the national health industry to promote tiered diagnosis and treatment and family doctor contracts, and the "Cloud Angel" project based on infant care under the "two-child" policy. In 2018, 12 teams from our hospital won the bronze medal in the Chuang Qingchun 2018 Hubei University Student Entrepreneurship Competition.
