Hubei Open Vocational College (hereinafter referred to as "Hubei Open College") is a private ordinary college renamed and restructured from Hubei Correspondence University. Its predecessor, Hubei Correspondence University, was a new type of private university born in the upsurge of economic system reform, scientific and technological system reform and education system reform in the 1980s. On November 9, 1984, it was approved by the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Government and approved by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education . In March 1986, it was approved and filed with the State Education Commission <(86) Jiaoji No. 45>. It was the first private university established in my country in the early stage of reform and opening up in the 1980s. In May 2002, it was officially renamed Hubei Open Vocational College with the approval of the Provincial People's Government's Ezhenghan (2002) No. 59, and was restructured from an adult college to an ordinary college. It mainly undertakes full-time higher vocational education, and continues to undertake adult higher education, continuing education, online education and various types of vocational training education at all levels. For more than 30 years since its establishment, the school has adhered to the guiding ideology of "surviving and seeking reputation by quality, and developing and improving by reform", adhering to the school motto of "cultivating morality, seeking knowledge, strengthening ability, and serving the country", advocating the school spirit of "establishing morality and cultivating people, loving integrity, strengthening skills, and pioneering and innovating"; the teaching style of "both morality and ability", the style of study of "seeking truth and innovation" and the working style of "dedication and pragmatism". The construction of spiritual culture, material culture, institutional culture and behavioral culture runs through the whole process of talent cultivation. It has cultivated and nurtured generations of "opening students" to grow up and become talents here, and move towards glory. The school adheres to the concept and purpose of open education, practices the interaction between colleges and universities and society, and attaches importance to exchanges and cooperation between domestic and foreign schools. Facing the opportunities and challenges of the new era, the school further gives play to the advantages and characteristics of our school's "small but fine, excellent and special" education in accordance with the pattern and ideas of "one main and two wings" innovative development. "One main" refers to academic education (i.e. college and technical secondary school education); "two wings" refer to cooperative education and training, and the other refers to industrial operation and incubation. Establishing the educational purpose of morality as the root, people-oriented, harmony as the most precious, and ability as the first, further promote the innovation of the school-running system and mechanism around the core task of cultivating high-quality and high-skilled talents, and inject vitality and vigor into Hubei Kaiyuan's progress in the new era. The school will deepen the integration of production and education, and school-enterprise cooperation as the source of power and goal of development. In the construction of regional industrial clusters and the development of parks and enterprises, it will accurately identify and continuously consolidate the school's educational positioning and development direction, and strive to improve the school's participation and contribution rate in regional economic and social development. Through more than 30 years of construction and development, "Hubei Kaiyuan" has explored new concepts, new horizons, new models, and new goals for open education in all aspects; strengthened the awareness of crisis, competition, innovation, integrity, and cooperation; and carried out all-round reforms and innovations in educational ideas, educational systems, educational goals, and educational means. The school has established a complete funding system, and has set up various forms of funding measures such as various scholarships, grants, student loans, hardship assistance, work-study programs, tuition waivers, green channels, etc., to ensure that students from economically disadvantaged families do not drop out of school due to tuition issues. The school sponsors the "Journal of Hubei University of Letters" (international and domestic publication numbers) and the "Journal of Hubei Open Vocational College", which have been officially approved by the State Administration of Press and Publication for unified publication numbers, and are well received by the education, academic and social circles. The school continues to promote the construction of a digital information campus, with the development of educational modernization and informatization as the direction, and the goal of building a "smart campus", fully and effectively integrating high-quality educational resources inside and outside the school, and providing a systematic integrated platform support for the school to deepen education and teaching reforms and administration, teaching, student work, logistics support, and safe campus management.
