Hubei Railway Transportation Vocational College (Wuhan Railway Technician College) is a vocational college established with the approval of the Hubei Provincial People's Government and under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security. Its education and teaching business is managed and guided by the Provincial Department of Education. The predecessor of the college was the Wuhan Railway Driver School established in 1972. In September 2005, in accordance with the requirements of separating social functions of enterprises, it was transferred from the Wuhan Railway Bureau to the Provincial Department of Labor and Social Security (now the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security) for management. In August 2013, with the approval of the Hubei Provincial People's Government, Wuhan Railway Driver School was merged with Hubei Light Industry Technical School to form Wuhan Railway Technician College. In March 2015, the Provincial People's Government agreed to establish Hubei Railway Transportation Vocational College based on Wuhan Railway Technician College. In January 2017, the headquarters of Hubei Textile Industry Technical School was merged into Hubei Railway Transportation Vocational College (Wuhan Railway Technician College). The college has a campus area of 179.8 acres and a building area of 58,800 square meters. It has 7 modern practice and training centers, 80 laboratories and training rooms, and 80 multimedia classrooms. There are 1,127 sets of teaching instruments and practice and training equipment, with a total value of 26.34 million yuan. A new campus of China Science and Technology Park covering an area of 400 acres is under construction. The library currently has a collection of 460,530 books. There are more than 4,500 students on campus, and more than 3,000 employees are trained annually. The college mainly offers special majors such as urban rail transit vehicle technology, urban rail transit operation management, railway locomotives, railway vehicles, railway power supply technology, railway transportation operation management, mechatronics technology, and urban rail transit power supply and distribution technology. The college is a "national high-skilled talent training base", "Hubei high-skilled talent training demonstration base", "Wuhan high-skilled talent training base", "World Skills Competition Electrical Installation Project Hubei Training Base", "Transportation Industry Vocational Skills Appraisal Station", "Hubei Characteristic Technical College", and was rated as "National Advanced Collective in the Education System" by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and was rated as "National Advanced Vocational Education Unit" by six departments including the Ministry of Education, and was awarded the "Tenth National Skilled Talent Cultivation Outstanding Contribution Award" by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. It was identified as a project construction unit of the "National Secondary Vocational Education Reform and Development Demonstration School" by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Ministry of Finance.
