Hubei Urban Construction Vocational and Technical College is located in the core area of China Optics Valley in Wuhan, on the shore of the scenic Tangxun Lake, adjacent to the Canglong Island National Wetland Park. The campus is lush with trees and has a beautiful environment. The school was founded in the early days of reform and opening up. Its predecessor was the Hubei Provincial Construction Engineering School, which was established on November 15, 1978. In 1985, the school was renamed Hubei Urban Construction School. In 2002, it was jointly established with Hubei Urban and Rural Construction Workers University and approved by the People's Government of Hubei Province to establish Hubei Urban Construction Vocational and Technical College. In 2005, Hubei Trade and Technology School (formerly Hubei Material School) was incorporated as a whole. The school is affiliated to the Hubei Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is the only full-time public general higher vocational school in the province. It has been approved as a model higher vocational college in Hubei Province, a brand college of construction engineering vocational education in Hubei Province, and a high-quality junior college in Hubei Province. In 2021, it successfully established a high-level higher vocational college in Hubei Province (Class A). The school has always adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, implemented the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, and taken the cultivation of technical and skilled talents as its own responsibility. The school recruits students from 25 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government) across the country, with more than 14,000 teachers and students. There are currently 1 national teaching team, 2 provincial teaching teams, and more than 100 teachers with honorary titles at the provincial level or above (famous teachers, model workers). The school has 9 teaching units including the School of Architectural Design, the School of Architectural Engineering, the School of Municipal Engineering, the School of Information and Equipment Engineering, the School of Construction Management, the School of Logistics Management, and the School of Marxism. There are 45 higher vocational majors such as construction engineering technology, architectural decoration engineering technology, and engineering cost. Among them, there are 6 national key majors, 23 provincial key majors (including demonstration majors, backbone majors, brand majors, and characteristic majors), 5 Hubei construction engineering vocational education brand professional groups, and 2 provincial-level project construction high-level professional groups. There are 8 national-level training bases and more than 510 off-campus training bases. The school continues to deepen the integration of production and education, and school-enterprise cooperation, becoming a national modern apprenticeship pilot school and a "1+X" certificate pilot school. It has successively established a "one school, multiple enterprises" school-enterprise cooperation board, a "multi-school, multiple enterprises" Hubei Construction Vocational Education Group, and a "government, school, industry, and enterprise" industry-education integration community to achieve iterative upgrades of the school-enterprise cooperation platform. Order training has achieved full coverage, and 10 modern industry (enterprise) colleges such as digital cost have been established. Hubei Construction Vocational Education Group has been selected as a national exemplary vocational education group (alliance) cultivation unit, and has been approved as a typical case of school-enterprise cooperation by the Ministry of Education. It has become the first batch of "Transportation Construction Industry Craftsman Colleges" of the National Committee of the China Seamen's Union, and has been approved as the first batch of special training plans for vocational education field engineers in Hubei Province. In the past five years, more than a thousand people have won awards in skill competitions at the provincial level and above. The school insists on taking party building as the leading factor, giving full play to its professional, intellectual and talent advantages, and focusing on connecting with national and regional development needs. It has carried out a series of fruitful work in teaching, aiding Xinjiang and Tibet, post-disaster reconstruction, poverty alleviation, and rural revitalization. It conducts social training for more than 30,000 people each year, contributing to the school's strength in serving social and economic development and building a well-off society in an all-round way. The village work team and team members have been praised at the provincial level many times, and one person has won the honorary title of "Advanced Individual in Poverty Alleviation" in the province. Since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the original intention of educating people for the party and cultivating talents for the country, adhering to the school motto of "establishing morality, being able, studying hard, and innovating", and has trained more than 70,000 technical and skilled talents for the society. It has successively won various honorary titles such as the National Youth Civilization Unit, the National Advanced Unit of the Construction System, the Hubei Civilized Unit, the Hubei May 1st Labor Award, the Hubei Safe Campus, and the Hubei Advanced Unit for Employment.
