Hunan Automotive Engineering Vocational University is a public undergraduate vocational college. Its predecessor was Zhuzhou Vocational and Technical College founded in March 2005. It was renamed Hunan Automotive Engineering Vocational College in July 2013. In May 2024, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Hunan Automotive Engineering Vocational University based on the integration of resources of Hunan Automotive Engineering Vocational College. Since its establishment, the school has adhered to the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people, and has positioned itself as "based on the automotive industry, serving the automotive industry, cultivating automotive talents, and building automotive brands". Adhering to the school motto of "virtue, precision, diligence, and practical application", it has been rated as a Chinese-style A-level high-level professional group construction unit, a national high-quality junior college higher vocational college, a national vocational education group (alliance) cultivation unit, the Ministry of Education's second batch of "1+X" certificate system pilot colleges, and national advanced units of vocational education. Charming campus of national vocational colleges, model school for the construction of digital campuses of national vocational colleges, Hunan Province Civilized Model Campus, Hunan Province's first batch of excellent higher vocational colleges, the Chinese People's Liberation Army's targeted training of direct-recruited sergeants, Hunan Province's free teacher joint training colleges, and Hunan Province's "Top Ten Safe" series creation demonstration units and other honors. The school covers an area of 1,592 acres, with 1,020 full-time teachers and more than 17,500 full-time higher vocational students. It has teaching units such as the School of Vehicle Engineering, the School of Vehicle Application, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Aeronautical Engineering, the School of Navigation Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Fashion Art, the School of Business and Trade, the School of Sergeant Education, and the School of Marxism. It offers 6 full-time undergraduate majors and 43 full-time junior college majors. The school insists on being based in the region and taking root in the industry. With automotive majors as the main body and aviation engines, intelligent manufacturing, and electronic information majors as the support, it has formed a professional group pattern that serves Hunan Province's traditional industries, advantageous industries, emerging industries, and future industries as the main body, and continuously improves its integrated service capabilities for regional industrial and economic development. In the past five years, the university has established 1 national high-level professional group (A-level), 2 national vocational college demonstration professional points, 4 national backbone majors, 1 modern apprenticeship pilot major of the Ministry of Education, 3 national vocational education professional teaching resource libraries, 1 first prize of national excellent teaching materials, and 1 national high-quality online open course; 3 Hunan Province "Chuyi" high-level vocational professional groups, 2 provincial demonstration specialty majors, 3 provincial teaching resource libraries, and 34 provincial high-quality online open courses. The school adheres to the integration of industry and education, and the integration of science and education. It has joined hands with BMW, Volvo, Porsche, SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC General Motors, Changan Ford, GAC Honda, CRRC Electric, Beijing Auto, Ideal Auto, BYD, Geely Auto, Shaanxi Automobile Heavy Truck, UFIDA Xindao and other companies, and has established 6 industrial colleges and more than 20 co-built training bases on campus. The quality of talent training has been improved year by year. In the past two teaching achievement awards, 7 national second prizes or above or provincial highest awards have been won. In the past five years, in-service teachers have won 70 national awards and honors, and students have won 19 national first prizes, 15 second and third prizes, and 51 provincial first prizes in the professional skills competition of vocational colleges. In the provincial and above innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, they won 2 national first prizes, 6 second prizes, 12 third prizes, and 14 provincial first prizes. In the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has been above 94%, the employment rate in the province has exceeded 61%, and the employment rate in Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan has exceeded 53%.
