Hunan Biomechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public general college with a history of more than 100 years. It was selected as the first batch of high-level professional groups in the national "Double High Plan" C-level, the national rural revitalization talent training quality school, the Hunan Province "Double High Plan" construction school A-level, Hunan Demonstration Vocational College and Hunan Province Excellent Vocational College. Academician Yuan Longping, a world-renowned hybrid rice expert, served as the honorary dean of the college. The predecessor of the school was founded in 1903 as the "Hunan Private Xiuye School", which was founded by Zhou Zhenlin, a modern Chinese democratic revolutionary and educator, in order to "save the country through education". Later, influenced by the trend of thought of "serving the country through industry", it was changed to agricultural industrial education in 1918. Huang Xing, a pioneer of the democratic revolution, Xu Teli, an educator, and Mao Zedong, a founding leader, have taught at the school. Mao Zetan, a revolutionary martyr, Tian Han, the "Father of the National Anthem", and Wang Shoudao, a national leader, have studied at the school. The school's "saving the country and serving the country", "learning to work hard and endure hardships", "mud feet and legs" and other "cultivation" agricultural vocational spirits have become more and more new over time. Together with the "Chu Yi" industrial vocational education spirit, it is a precious spiritual wealth of Hunan vocational education. In May 2001, the school was upgraded from the merger of the former Changsha Agricultural School and the Provincial Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School to a higher vocational college. It has always adhered to the positioning of agricultural vocational education, helped rural revitalization, and served the development of modern agriculture. It currently has two campuses, Donghu and Mapoling, and a super hybrid rice production demonstration and talent training base supported by the central government. It covers an area of more than 1,300 acres and has 8 colleges and 1 department, including the College of Plant Science and Technology, the College of Animal Science and Technology, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the College of Vehicle Engineering, the College of Economics and Trade, the College of Information Technology, the College of Humanities, the College of Marxism, and the Department of Physical Education and Arts Teaching, as well as 3 continuing education colleges, international exchange colleges, and innovation and entrepreneurship colleges that carry out social training, international exchanges, and "double innovation" education. It has built 6 major professional clusters that connect with Hunan's ten major agricultural industries worth hundreds of billions and cover the entire industrial chain of modern agriculture. It has opened 45 majors with agricultural majors as the main body, with nearly 16,000 full-time students. The scale of non-academic training is roughly the same as that of full-time education. It is the highest vocational college with the longest history of agricultural vocational education in our province, the most complete professional categories, and the largest student scale. The school currently has 1,076 faculty and staff, including 45 senior teachers and 187 deputy senior teachers, and more than 90% of them are "double-qualified" teachers. There are 6 national agricultural vocational education teachers, 30 domestic visiting scholars, 1 Furong Scholar, and 1 Xu Teli Education Award winner. Since 2011, the school has won 14 provincial and above teaching achievement awards, 14 provincial science and technology progress awards, 7 national agricultural harvest awards, and 501 patents. The school is the initiator of 6 national-level school-running groups (alliances, committees), including China Modern Agricultural Equipment Vocational Education Group, China Modern Pet Vocational Education Consortium, China Pet Industry Vocational Education Group, China Pig Industry Vocational Education Industry-University-Research Alliance, Wuling Mountain Luoxiao Mountain Hunan-Jiangxi Border Area Rural Revitalization Science and Education Alliance, and China Urban Agricultural Vocational Education Group Labor Education Professional Committee, and 2 provincial-level school-running groups (alliances, committees), including Hunan Modern Agricultural Vocational Education Group and Hunan Modern Agricultural Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee. Hunan Modern Agricultural Vocational Education Group is the first batch of national demonstration vocational education groups and Hunan Chuyi Demonstration Vocational Education Group. The school has been selected into the first batch of national "double high plan" construction high-level professional group C file, national rural revitalization talent training quality school, the first batch of vocational colleges digital campus construction pilot units of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national demonstration vocational education group cultivation units, national greening model units, national language standardization demonstration schools, national demonstration vocational skills appraisal institutes, national youth agricultural science demonstration bases, national teaching and scientific research advanced units, national top ten outstanding farmers entrepreneurship training bases, national defense education characteristic schools, and group reform demonstration units. Won provincial honorary qualifications such as provincial excellent vocational colleges, civilized model campuses, advanced collectives for employment and entrepreneurship, and Hunan Chuyi High-level Vocational Schools. The project has established 1 national model branch for party building work, 2 provincial "three-dimensional education" comprehensive reform pilot projects, 1 provincial party building work "benchmark department", 1 model branch, the Ministry of Education's modern apprenticeship system pilot unit, and the 1+X certificate system pilot unit. The university has signed agreements with Natabona Vocational College in East Timor and Alage College, the largest agricultural vocational college in Ethiopia, to carry out international cooperation in running schools. It has cooperated with Longping High-Tech and the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province to successfully apply for and continuously select outstanding teachers to participate in foreign aid projects such as the national aid to Ethiopia's agricultural vocational and technical education and the Bangladesh meat and poultry industry biosafety policy and practice training course. It has jointly built an overseas hybrid rice technology promotion center with Longping High-Tech and jointly established the Philippine Hybrid Rice Collaborative Innovation Center, providing strong support for the delivery of high-quality skilled talents and the cultivation of localized skilled talents for Hunan enterprises that "go global". Mainstream media such as People's Daily, Guangming Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and Hunan Daily have widely reported on the school's unique advantages in running schools. The school has established in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with well-known domestic and foreign companies such as Huawei Machine, Foxconn, ZTE, Yuanda Group, Longping High-Tech, New Wufeng, and Zoomlion, and the employment rate of graduates in the same year is above 95%. In recent years, the results of follow-up surveys of graduates show that indicators such as satisfaction with career guidance services, satisfaction with employment status, satisfaction with teaching, student work satisfaction, and satisfaction with life services are all higher than the national average level of the "Double High Plan".
