Hunan Engineering Vocational and Technical College is a state-owned, full-time general college registered with the Ministry of Education of China, approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province, and under the jurisdiction of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. Since its establishment in 1958, the university has always adhered to the school-running philosophy of “inheriting the culture of the earth and cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents”, adhering to the school motto of “combining morality and skills, integrating knowledge and action”, rooted in the natural resources industry, connecting with the main business of natural resources and civil engineering industry, and clarifying the construction and development ideas of “serving the national development strategy, serving the high-quality economic and social development of Hunan, and serving Hunan’s ‘three highs and four new’ beautiful blueprint”. It is focusing on promoting the layout and development of three major professional clusters, namely the natural resources professional cluster, the engineering construction professional cluster, and the modern service professional cluster. We strive to build a natural resources characteristic professional system of “one leading, three key points, four supports, and five developments”, comprehensively promote the “six major projects” such as party building leading the school, talent-driven school, characteristic strong school, open and excellent school, quality improvement and expansion of the school, and harmonious and stable school, comprehensively build “six campuses” such as ecological campus, smart campus, economical campus, civilized campus, safe campus, and harmonious campus, and strive to build the school into a beautiful, harmonious, happy, high-level vocational college with distinctive characteristics of natural resources and undergraduate talent training qualifications. Under the correct leadership of the Provincial Department of Education and the cordial care of the Provincial Department of Natural Resources, through the joint efforts of all teachers and students, the school has been built into an "Excellent College for Talent Training Level Assessment of the Ministry of Education", "Hunan Demonstration (Key) Higher Vocational College", "Hunan 'Chuyi' High-level Vocational School", "Hunan Party Building Demonstration College", "Hunan Civilized Model Campus", "Hunan Safe College", "Hunan 'Three-dimensional Education' Comprehensive Reform Pilot College", "Hunan Province Deepening the Comprehensive Reform of Education Evaluation in the New Era Pilot College". The school covers an area of more than 600 acres, with total assets of 652 million yuan, more than 13,000 full-time students, more than 700 faculty and staff, of which the proportion of "dual-qualified" full-time teachers is 86%, with 29 senior professional titles, 164 associate senior professional titles, 4 provincial teacher teaching innovation teams, and 28 provincial young backbone teachers. The school has "ten colleges and one department", including the School of Surveying and Geography, the School of Natural Resources, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Engineering Construction, the School of Engineering Management, the School of Engineering Design, the School of Modern Economics and Trade, the School of Ecological Culture and Tourism, the School of Marxism, and the Department of Basic Courses, and offers 36 majors (including professional directions). At present, the school has three Hunan Chuyi high-level professional groups, namely the Engineering Surveying Technology Professional Group, the Environmental Geological Engineering Professional Group, and the Construction Engineering Technology Professional Group, one provincial first-class specialty professional group in engineering surveying, two majors supported by the Central Finance Department, namely geological survey and mineral census and engineering cost, two provincial specialty majors in engineering surveying technology and construction engineering technology, three provincial boutique majors in engineering surveying technology, construction engineering technology, and hotel management, and three provincial teaching reform pilot majors in engineering surveying technology, construction engineering technology, and hotel management. The school has excellent internship and training conditions, with 196 off-campus internship and training bases and 116 on-campus training rooms. The school has five professional training areas that have been identified by the state and Hunan Province as "central financial support for construction technology training bases", "Hunan engineering cost school-enterprise cooperation productive practice training bases", "Hunan engineering surveying technology training bases", "Hunan construction engineering professional course teacher professional skills teaching level certification training bases", "Hunan environmental geological engineering technology professional productive practice training (teacher certification training) bases". Among them, the construction demonstration virtual simulation training base has been identified as a national-level vocational education demonstration virtual simulation training base cultivation project; the surveying and mapping geographic information production and education integration training base has been identified as a planned construction unit of the Hunan "Chuyi" production and education integration training base. The school has always adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, implemented the fundamental task of "establishing morality and cultivating people", continuously improved the quality of talent training, and cultivated more than 90,000 technical and skilled engineering talents for the society. School graduates can enter the corresponding undergraduate colleges by taking the Hunan Province General Higher Education "Diploma to Bachelor" Examination. The school has been awarded as an outstanding unit in the special inspection and evaluation of the "top leader project" for employment and entrepreneurship of ordinary college graduates in Hunan Province for seven consecutive years, and was rated as "Hunan Province University Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Demonstration School" and "Hunan Province University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Demonstration Base" by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education.
