Historical reasons. Tracing back to its origins, its main school began with the establishment of Xiuye School on October 8, 1903. It went through the Hunan Private Xiuye Senior Agricultural Vocational School and the Hunan Provincial Xiuye Agricultural and Forestry College. In March 1951, it merged with the Agricultural College of Hunan University to form the Hunan Agricultural College. In October 1975, the Hengyang Branch was established. In April 1987, it was changed to Hunan Forestry College. In June 1999, it was changed to Higher Vocational and Technical College. In April 2001, it was renamed.
