The predecessor of Hunan Vocational College of Foreign Languages was Liuyang Foreign Languages School, which was established in 1993. In 1997, it was renamed Liuyang Foreign Languages Continuing Education College. In 2006, the school was upgraded to a general higher vocational school and renamed Hunan Vocational College of Foreign Languages. The school has two campuses in Changsha and Liuyang, covering an area of more than 1,000 acres. The main campus is located in Dingzi Town, Wangcheng District, with 8 secondary colleges. There are nearly 1,000 faculty and staff, more than 15,000 students, and complete teaching facilities. It is a modern, intelligent and ecological campus. After 30 years of trials and tribulations, the school has fully implemented the party's education policy, always followed the development laws of modern vocational education, and insisted on taking the development path of "professionalization, marketization, and internationalization". It has trained more than 50,000 applied skilled talents with foreign language expertise for social development, and has been fully recognized by the higher education authorities and all sectors of society. In 2012, the school successfully passed the national higher vocational college talent training work qualification assessment, and in 2016 was selected into the top 50 international influence rankings of higher vocational colleges. The school has successively won the "5A" level unit in the standardized school evaluation of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the first "Top Ten Private Colleges and Universities" in Hunan Province, the "Top Leader Project" Excellent School for Graduate Employment in Hunan Province, the Advanced School of Hunan Private Education Association, the Advanced Unit of Hunan Private Education Propaganda Work, and the Excellent Unit of Online Government Affairs Disclosure and Government Services in the Education System of Hunan Province. It is a standing director unit of the China Education International Exchange Association, the vice president unit of the Hunan Private Education Association, the vice president unit of the Hunan Education International Exchange Association, the vice president unit of the Hunan China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Research Association, the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Vocational Education Industry-Education Alliance, the World Vocational Education Institutions Alliance, and the World French University Alliance (AUF) Member Unit; in 2023, it was rated as a civilized college in Hunan Province and a civilized campus in Changsha in 2022; it was rated as "2023 New Media Communication Innovation Vocational College". The school has rich teaching resources and strong faculty. At present, there are 1 provincial professional teaching team, 1 provincial first-class characteristic professional group of higher vocational education, 2 provincial boutique majors, 13 provincial and municipal boutique courses, 1 provincial excellent vocational education textbook, 1 modern apprenticeship pilot project in Hunan Province, and 1 (small language application) school-enterprise cooperation demonstration base for key vocational education projects in Changsha to connect with local industries. The school encourages teachers to carry out applied research and transformation of results. In recent years, teachers have undertaken 130 research projects at the provincial level and above, published more than 700 academic papers, published more than 30 academic works (textbooks), authorized 30 patents, and won more than 10 provincial teaching and scientific research achievement awards and more than 150 excellent paper awards. In recent years, students have won 74 awards in national competitions and 147 awards in provincial competitions, including 37 provincial special prizes and first prizes. In the provincial spot check, the pass rate of students' graduation design has reached 100% many times, the pass rate of professional skills is more than 95%, and the overall employment rate of students has reached more than 90%. The school focuses on connecting majors with industries, and has built a professional group layout with applied foreign language majors as the main body, foreign-related business services and foreign-related nursing and health care majors as the two wings, and information engineering, education and art as multiple rounds of professional groups, forming a characteristic of cultivating applied skills talents that meet the needs of export-oriented economic development. In order to solve the pain points of talent demand in foreign trade enterprises, the school has innovated the "three pairs" talent training system, and further consolidated the foundation of "three pairs" talent training through the implementation of the "three-dimensional education, five-education integration" education project. The school implements the "foreign language + skills" and "skills + foreign language" characteristic training as a whole, forming a characteristic of foreign-related talent training. In recent years, the school's advanced school-running philosophy and connotation-based construction achievements have been widely publicized and reported by media such as People's Daily, China Education Daily, China Daily, Study Power, Sanxiang Metropolis Daily, Hunan Education Television, Red Net, New Hunan, and Huasheng Online. The school insists on serving the society and fulfilling its mission. It has established an industry-education integration college and implemented the "Ten Hundred Thousand" project, namely, building 10 demonstration projects with deep integration of industry and education, 100 internship and training bases for large-scale enterprises, and 1,000 stable student employment bases. 11 projects were approved by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education for the "1+X" certificate system pilot, and 2 substantive industry-education integration projects and 1 apprenticeship project were created. School-enterprise cooperation relationships have been established with well-known companies such as Huawei, Cisco, Wanda Group, Huayou Cobalt, and Wanpeng Industry, and a series of school-enterprise cooperation order classes have been established to cultivate urgently needed application skills talents for enterprises. In the current stage of high-quality development, the school faces the development trend of the times, is in line with international school-running concepts, systems and mechanisms, and has deeply integrated the university health care results established in 10 years of research into the new development pattern.
