Hunan High-speed Railway Vocational and Technical College, formerly known as Hengyang Railway Engineering School, was founded by the Ministry of Railways in 1951. In 2004, it was placed under the management of the municipal party committee and municipal government, upgraded to Hunan Transportation Engineering Vocational and Technical College in 2005, renamed Hunan High-speed Railway Vocational and Technical College in 2011, and moved to Linghu High-speed Railway New Town in 2014. The college is a high-level vocational school of "Chuyi" in Hunan Province, a provincial outstanding vocational college, a provincial civilized model campus, and a pilot college for deepening the reform of education evaluation in the new era. It has more than 10 national professional innovation and technical service platforms such as national vocational education groups, maker spaces, industry-university-research cooperation innovation demonstration bases, innovation centers, employment and entrepreneurship innovation practice demonstration bases, specialized and new industry colleges, and the first batch of digital benchmark training bases. In the past 73 years, it has trained nearly 100,000 "iron soldiers" for China's railways, and is known as the Huangpu Military Academy of China's railways and the cradle of station chiefs. The college covers an area of more than 850 acres, with a construction area of nearly 360,000 square meters, and a total investment of more than 1.5 billion yuan. It has 7 secondary colleges, 34 junior college majors and 1 undergraduate major. It has 3 provincial high-level professional groups, 3 provincial first-class professional groups, and 1 high-level professional group serving the "three highs and four new" strategy, which has built a distinctive professional pattern that is compatible with the high-speed rail, rail transit industry and regional economic development. The college currently has nearly 1,000 faculty and staff, and nearly 700 are on duty. Among them, there are 370 teachers with master's degrees or above, 222 with senior professional titles, and the proportion of "dual-qualified" teachers reached 80.6%. 2 teachers have won the National "May 1st" Labor Medal and "National Excellent Teacher" respectively. There is 1 Hunan "Furong" famous teacher, 2 national "dual-qualified" technical skills industry mentors, 26 provincial and above teaching teachers, 3 winners of the "Locomotive Medal" of the Ministry of Railways, 6 members of the National Industry Steering Committee, 3 provincial professional teaching teams, and 18 young and middle-aged backbone teachers in Hunan Province. The college also hired 5 leading talents, 11 industry mentors, and 9 enterprise skill masters as consultants, and established more than 20 skill master studios. The college recruits students from 27 provinces and cities across the country, and currently has more than 14,000 full-time students. In the past two years, students have won more than 210 awards in various competitions at all levels, including more than 10 national competitions. Graduates are mainly employed by China Railway Group, Metro Company, China Railway Construction, China Railway Engineering and other enterprises with high quality. The employment rate of graduates has reached more than 96% in the past three years. It has been awarded the Advanced Unit for Enrollment in Hunan Province for 6 consecutive years, the Advanced Unit for Employment in Hunan Province for 5 consecutive years, and the Excellent Unit for Employment and Entrepreneurship in Hunan Province for two consecutive years. Its social service contribution has been among the top 20 higher vocational colleges in the province for many years. The college insists on the path of integration of industry and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and has built 3 industrial colleges through school-enterprise cooperation. It has one Hunan Engineering Research Center, five comprehensive training bases, more than 150 training rooms and more than 300 stable off-campus internship and training bases. It is an international science and technology innovation cooperation base, a provincial science and technology popularization base, a provincial social science popularization base, a provincial "Chu Yi" cultural heritage base, and a provincial "Chu Yi" industry-education integration training base. The Southern High-speed Railway Talent Training and Technology Cooperation Alliance, led by the college, is a national demonstrative vocational education group and a Hunan "Chu Yi" demonstrative vocational education group. The college actively connects with the "Belt and Road" initiative and helps China's high-speed rail "going out" strategy. The "Tianyou Railway College" Thailand branch was established at the Thailand Wapipatong Vocational and Technical College. The Thailand high-speed rail vocational education cooperation project was selected as one of the first 20 projects of the Ministry of Education's "China-ASEAN Double Hundred Vocational Schools Strong Cooperation Flagship Plan". Together with the "Win Alliance" and the University of Conakry in Guinea, we will jointly promote the training of localized railway construction talents and establish the undergraduate-level "Tianyou" Railway College. The China-Guinea Railway International Talent Order Training Project was selected as the first batch of "Future Africa-China-Guinea Vocational Education Cooperation Featured Projects" by the Ministry of Education of China, becoming a shining name card for China-Africa cooperation in Hunan Province. The international exchange school-running case was selected into the National Vocational Education Quality Annual Report. In 2023, the income from academic and non-academic continuing education (training) reached 13.19919 million yuan, and 30,000 training sessions were completed. It entered the top 50 of the National 2023 Vocational Education Quality Annual Report on Industry-Education Integration Excellence List. At present, the college is actively leveraging its multiple advantages of deep industry background, strong support from local governments and brother colleges, working together to promote reform, concentrating on development, continuously improving the level of school-running and the quality of talent training, and promoting the creation of national "double-high" vocational colleges and "national civilized campuses".
