Hunan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College is an A-level construction unit of Chuyi High-level Vocational Schools in Hunan Province. The school adheres to the school motto of "Mingde Chongji, Self-improvement", promotes the school spirit of "unity, diligence, truth-seeking, innovation" and the mechanical and electrical spirit of "hard work, courage to explore, love the job, selfless dedication", insists on being rooted in the equipment manufacturing industry, closely relying on industrial parks such as Changsha Economic Development Zone, actively serving Hunan's "three highs and four new" strategic positioning and mission tasks, and vigorously cultivating high-quality skilled talents that meet the needs of the new era. The school has a long history of running schools. From the establishment of Hunan Tractor Factory Technical School in 1974, the establishment of Hunan Machinery Industry Bureau Jinshi Technical School in 1978, the establishment of Hunan Packaging Food Machinery School in 1984, the establishment of Hunan Mechanical and Electrical School in 1989, and the establishment of Hunan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College in 2002 with the approval of the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education, it has a 50-year history of running schools. After several generations of hard work and unremitting efforts of mechanical and electrical people, the school has now become a model higher vocational college in Hunan Province, a backbone vocational college in the national machinery industry, a national Huang Yanpei vocational education excellent school, a civilized model campus in Hunan Province, an advanced unit of vocational education in Hunan Province, a model school for employment and entrepreneurship of college students in Hunan Province, a strong school for internship management in Hunan Province, and a strong school for cultural construction of vocational colleges in Hunan Province. It has established national-level vocational education "double-qualified" teacher training bases, national-level model vocational education groups, national-level makerspaces, national-level innovation and entrepreneurship education practice bases, the Ministry of Education FABO China Digital System Collaborative Innovation Center, and the Ministry of Education Makerspace Collaborative Innovation Center and other national projects. The school is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in China. It has 9 secondary colleges (departments) including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Economics and Trade, and the School of Information Engineering. It offers undergraduate majors in robotics engineering (jointly trained with Hunan Agricultural University) and 36 full-time junior college majors such as mechanical manufacturing and automation, mechatronics technology, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, elevator engineering technology, and industrial robot technology. The three Hunan Chuyi A-level high-level professional groups of intelligent control technology, mechanical manufacturing and automation, and intelligent connected vehicle technology have been established, and two majors have been selected as demonstration majors in equipment manufacturing by the Ministry of Education. The school takes maker education as a breakthrough in teaching reform. It took the lead in establishing the Hunan Higher Vocational Maker Education Professional Committee, systematically developed maker courses, and promoted the "doing-based" maker teaching reform, forming a "six-creation resonance" talent training model for maker-type craftsmen, and comprehensively improved the quality of talent training. Since 2019, students have won 122 awards in various innovation and entrepreneurship competitions at the provincial level and above, including 1 national first prize, ranking among the top in Hunan Province. The school was rated as one of the top 100 colleges and universities in the country in the Student Development Index of the "2021 China Vocational Education Quality Annual Report", and the maker-type craftsman talent training model won the provincial vocational education teaching achievement special prize and the national first prize. Students have won 422 awards in skill competitions at the provincial level and above, including 5 national first prizes and 77 provincial first prizes. The school has sent graduates represented by Liu Luxiang and Liu Haitao, the "Chinese University Student Self-improvement Stars", to the society. The school's engineering training center was selected into the National Development and Reform Commission's Education Power Project. The school actively promotes foreign exchanges and cooperation. The project of the China-Europe internship and employment talent training base was established. The intention of cooperative education was reached with the University of the Highlands and Islands in the United Kingdom, the National New Zealand Institute of Technology, and the Alag University in Ethiopia. The industry-education alliance for the overseas cooperation of Hunan enterprises was established with Sunward Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd., and a collaborative overseas agreement was signed to jointly establish the "Sunward Intelligent Overseas Engineer" order class. A collaborative overseas agreement was signed with Jiarong Technology Co., Ltd. and Xingfei Zhiyuan Co., Ltd. Cooperation was carried out with Dingli Technology Co., Ltd. in professional groups such as intelligent manufacturing and intelligent control, and an order class was established to reserve international skilled talents for enterprises to invest and build factories in Russia.
