Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1951. It is a public comprehensive higher vocational college with engineering as the main major and liberal arts, management and economics as the common development majors. In 2006, it was approved as the first batch of national demonstration higher vocational colleges, and in July 2015, it was approved as the first batch of excellent colleges in Hunan Province. In 2019, it was selected as a national high-quality higher vocational college, and in 2019, it was selected as a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics. It has made positive contributions to the economic and social development of the country and Hunan. The school covers an area of 1,000.93 acres and a total construction area of 337,500 square meters. There are more than 14,000 teachers and students. The school is deeply involved in the entire industrial chain of rail transit equipment manufacturing. It has opened 40 higher vocational majors such as railway locomotive vehicle manufacturing and maintenance, EMU maintenance technology, and urban rail vehicle application technology, forming a professional group system covering the industrial chain of rail transit equipment manufacturing, application, control and management such as high-speed rail, conventional rail, and subway. The university has 5 key construction majors of national demonstration higher vocational colleges supported by the central government, 2 high-level professional groups with Chinese characteristics, 1 national high-quality major, 2 national education reform pilot majors, 3 national demonstration majors, 3 national teaching resource banks, 12 national high-quality courses, 12 national high-quality resource sharing courses, 5 national high-quality online open courses, 1 course of ideological and political demonstration of the Ministry of Education, 98 national planning textbooks, 7 national professional standards, 3 first-class characteristic professional groups of higher vocational education in Hunan Province, and 4 high-level professional groups with Hunan characteristics. Relying on the "National High-speed Railway Equipment Manufacturing Vocational Education Industry-Education Alliance" led by the school, the "Hunan Rail Transit Equipment Manufacturing and Application Vocational Education Group", the national demonstration vocational education group, the Intelligent Manufacturing Industry College jointly established with China CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd., the Times Craftsman Industry College jointly established with CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, and the Kingdee Digital Management Industry College jointly established with Kingdee Group, we share resources and improve the quality of talent training and the ability to serve enterprises. Relying on school-run enterprises, school scientific research and innovation teams and production-oriented training bases, we carry out research and development, technical services and rail traction locomotive parts production for the 100 billion industry of Hunan rail transit, with an annual output value of 150 million yuan. It has been rated as a pilot school for the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education and a pilot school for digitalization of the Ministry of Education. It is a national vocational teacher training base, a national dual-qualified teacher training base, a national backbone teacher training base, a domestic base for Sino-German teacher training, a national advanced manufacturing technology student training (teacher training) base for higher vocational colleges, and the first batch of "national high-skilled talent training bases". Graduates are mainly employed in CRRC's subsidiaries, 18 railway bureau group companies across the country, 27 subway companies, Shenzhen Huawei, Sany Heavy Industry, Germany Siemens and other companies, and are highly recognized by employers. In the 72 years since its establishment, the school has trained more than 80,000 high-quality technical and skilled personnel for the country. According to incomplete statistics, 127 graduates have grown into "National Model Workers", "High-speed Railway Craftsmen" of CRRC, and national and national technical experts. The school has established cooperative relations with 30 educational institutions and multinational companies in 13 countries (regions), including Russia, Germany, Thailand, and Malaysia. It has built 1 railway workshop, 1 Luban workshop, 1 overseas branch, and 1 "Belt and Road" industrial college. More than 3,000 talents in the rail transit industry have been trained for foreign aid projects such as the "Mombasa-Nairobi Railway" and "Belt and Road" countries such as Thailand and Nigeria.
