Hunan University of Commerce and Business is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city. It was founded in 1949 and enjoys the reputation of "the economic base of Hunan Army and the cradle of famous entrepreneurs". It is a financial university led by academicians, covering management, economics, engineering, science, law, literature, art, interdisciplinary and other disciplines that support each other and develop in a coordinated manner. In the past five years, the number of national-level projects has ranked among the top in provincial universities, including 4 major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, 3 major projects of the National Social Science Foundation, 9 national key research and development plan projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and 8 major key consulting projects of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Teachers of the university have won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of the Outstanding Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the Outstanding Contribution Award of Fudan Management, the Guangzhao Science and Technology Award of Hunan Province, the first prize of the Science and Technology Progress of Hunan Province, and the "Top Ten Golden Strategies" of Hunan Think Tank Research. A number of think tank results have entered the decision-making of the Party and the State. The university has 23 secondary colleges, 77 undergraduate majors (including 3 Sino-foreign cooperative undergraduate majors), 19 national first-class majors, 33 provincial first-class majors, and has won 2 national teaching achievement awards in the past five years.
