Hunan University of International Economics and Business is a private undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school was founded in 1997 and was originally named "Xiangnan College of Arts and Sciences". In 1998, it moved to Yuelu District, Changsha City and was renamed "Hunan University of International Economics and Business (Preparatory)". In 2000, it was approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province to be established as a higher vocational college. In 2005, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college. In 2015, the school passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education.
