Inner Mongolia Vocational and Technical College of Architecture is located in the southern foot of Daqing Mountain and the hinterland of Tumochuan in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is the only independent college of architecture in the autonomous region. The predecessor of the school was the Hohhot Urban Construction Engineering School of the Ministry of Urban Construction, which was founded in 1956. In 1958, the school was upgraded to undergraduate education and was renamed Inner Mongolia Architecture College. In 1961, due to economic and other reasons, the autonomous region government decided to adjust the colleges and universities, and restored the Inner Mongolia Architecture College to a secondary technical school system and renamed it Inner Mongolia Architecture School. After the end of the Cultural Revolution and the resumption of the college entrance examination, in 1979, with the approval of the former State Education Commission and the Autonomous Region People's Government, the school held undergraduate education in industrial and civil construction, architecture, heating and ventilation and other majors, and trained 6 consecutive undergraduate graduates. In 1994, the school was rated as one of the six key secondary technical schools of architecture in the country by the Ministry of Education. In July 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of the Autonomous Region, it was independently upgraded to a regular college and renamed Hohhot Vocational and Technical College. Its affiliation was adjusted from the Construction Department of the Autonomous Region to the Education Department of the Autonomous Region. In March 2002, the school was renamed Inner Mongolia Construction Vocational and Technical College. In the same year, the Autonomous Region Government decided to merge the Inner Mongolia Construction Engineering Technical School into the college. In recent years, under the strong leadership of the Autonomous Region Party Committee and Government and the direct leadership of the Autonomous Region College Working Committee and Education Department, and with the care and support of all sectors of society, the school has achieved leapfrog development in terms of school-running ability, teaching quality, management level, professional construction, enrollment and employment, student education, and social services. In November 2005, it was rated as excellent in the evaluation of the talent training level of higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education; in August 2007, it was identified as the first batch of "National Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges" by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance; in 2011, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as the first batch of independent enrollment pilot colleges for higher vocational colleges; in May 2016, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as a national pilot school for teaching diagnosis and improvement of higher vocational colleges; in September 2017, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as a national high-quality higher vocational college; in June 2019, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as the first batch of 1+X certificate system pilot colleges; in December 2019, it was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a national "double high plan" high-level professional group construction unit. The school is a member unit of the National Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, the chairman unit of the National Higher Vocational and Technical Civil Engineering Industry Steering Committee Municipal Engineering Special Steering Committee, the chairman unit of the Higher Vocational and Technical Education Research Association of the Autonomous Region Higher Education Society, and the chairman unit of the Autonomous Region College Graduate Employment Promotion Association. In the 67 years since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, fully implemented the party's education policy, and taken "establishing morality and cultivating people" as its fundamental task. Adhering to the school motto of "encouraging learning and practicing, building success", the school has adhered to the school-running orientation of full-time higher vocational education and undergraduate vocational education as the main body, actively carried out social training and adult education, and focused on building a training base for construction industry site engineers and high-quality technical and skilled talents in the construction industry, a construction industry technology research and development and consulting service base, a construction industry employee continuing education base, a construction occupational skills appraisal base and a higher vocational education and teaching research base in the autonomous region, and has formed a school-running pattern of "cultivating and training at the same time, five major bases". The school currently has 15 teaching and teaching support units, including the School of Construction Engineering and Surveying, the School of Architecture and Planning (Shanshui Green View Ecological Construction College), the School of Construction Equipment and Automation, the School of Construction Engineering Management, the School of Transportation and Municipal Engineering, the School of Art and Design, the School of Modern Service and Management, the School of Information and Media, the School of Marxism, the Department of Public Courses, the Department of Military Physical Education, the School of Continuing Education, the Library, the Network Information and Data Management Center, and the International Exchange and Cooperation Center. It has 18 management and service functional departments, including the Party and Government Office and the Academic Affairs Office. The school currently has two campuses, Ecological and Xinhua, covering an area of 1,212 acres; a building area of 250,000 square meters; and teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of 2.8 billion yuan; 94 on-campus professional training bases and 147 off-campus stable internship training bases. There are 1 national high-level professional group and 2 autonomous region high-level professional groups, 6 national key majors, 20 autonomous region key majors, 2 national quality courses, 2 national quality resource sharing courses, 4 national quality online open courses, 29 autonomous region quality courses, and 13 autonomous region quality online open courses. There is 1 national teaching team, 2 national vocational education teacher teaching innovation teams, 15 autonomous region excellent teaching teams, and 24 1+X pilot majors such as building information modeling (BIM). There is 1 national demonstration virtual simulation training base and 1 Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Building Information Modeling Engineering Research Center. It has edited 8 "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" national planning textbooks for vocational education and won 1 National Excellent Textbook Construction Award. The school undertook the construction project of "Inner Mongolia Construction Industry Open Comprehensive Training Base" supported by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Finance. It organized and established a government-enterprise-school cooperation development council participated by 8 professional bureaus, 12 industry associations, and 346 large-scale enterprises inside and outside the region. It built 5 shared productive training bases such as the Fire Skills Training Center, and co-built 8 industrial colleges with Tencent and Xingtai Group. There are 18 "1+X" vocational skill level certificate pilot projects such as building information modeling. The school won 4 first prizes and 4 second prizes for higher education teaching achievements at the autonomous region level. The school adheres to the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents" and vigorously strengthens the construction of the teaching staff and excellent teaching team. There are 622 faculty and staff, including 520 full-time teachers, 206 teachers with associate senior titles or above (including 57 senior titles), 411 teachers with master's degrees or above, and the proportion of "double-qualified" teachers with high theoretical level and rich practical experience has increased year by year. The school adheres to the talent training model of "integrating school-enterprise resources and jointly cultivating Lu Ban outside the Great Wall", and actively connects with the needs of industry enterprises and economic and social development. On the basis of maintaining the advantages and characteristics of architectural majors, each professional group supports each other and develops in a coordinated manner. The professional structure and layout are constantly adjusted and optimized. Now, a layout of 8 major professional groups and 55 higher vocational majors, mainly civil engineering, transportation, culture and art, information management, etc., has been established. At the same time, according to the demand for high-level technical and skilled talents in regional economic and social development, vocational undergraduate education is actively organized through cooperative education. At present, it has cooperated with 5 undergraduate colleges including Inner Mongolia University of Technology, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, and Inner Mongolia Hongde University of Arts and Sciences to organize 8 applied undergraduate majors such as architectural environment and energy application engineering, transportation engineering, civil engineering, environmental design, engineering cost, architecture, accounting, and engineering management. The school adheres to the service positioning of being based on the industry, facing Inner Mongolia, and radiating the whole country; it focuses on cultivating technical and skilled talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, and strong practical ability and innovative spirit. It is known as the "cradle for cultivating construction talents" in the autonomous region. There are 9,180 full-time students. In recent years, the initial employment rate of school graduates has reached more than 95%, and the follow-up employment rate has reached 100% within the year. It has ranked first among the higher vocational colleges in the autonomous region for many consecutive years. Since its establishment, it has trained and sent nearly 80,000 graduates to the society. Among the backbones of the autonomous region's construction industry, our school graduates account for more than 75%. The school's Inner Mongolia Construction Workers Training Center (Construction Industry Vocational Skills Appraisal Station) undertakes nearly 10,000 social and industry training and skills appraisals each year. In the past five years, students have participated in various "double innovation" competitions at all levels and have won a total of 10 national awards and 175 autonomous region awards. The school is a construction unit of the autonomous region's "Three-dimensional Education Comprehensive Reform Pilot School". The school insists on open education and has established counterpart support and cooperation relationships with many colleges and universities inside and outside the region. In 2021, the school signed a cooperation agreement with Thailand's Chulalongkorn University to run a school, mainly in the areas of joint guidance and teaching by famous teachers, student exchange and visiting studies, teachers studying abroad, and international talent training in architecture, and the construction of Luban Workshop. Actively expand Sino-German cooperation in the field of intelligent manufacturing, and the "Sino-German Advanced Vocational Education Cooperation Project" (SGAVE Project) led by the electrical automation major has been shortlisted as a candidate project of the Ministry of Education; promote the ISEC project with the China Scholarship Council; and jointly establish an industry-university-research cooperation platform with Malaysia's Mara University of Technology.
