The predecessor of Inner Mongolia Sports Vocational College was Inner Mongolia Sports College, which was founded in 1965 and is affiliated to the Sports Bureau of the Autonomous Region. In June 2001, it was approved by the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to be established as Inner Mongolia Sports Vocational College. The school is a full-time higher vocational education and a secondary vocational education. The college has a total of 175 staff, including 66 management staff and 109 professional and technical staff. There are 1 party secretary (deputy department level), 1 dean (deputy department level), 1 deputy party secretary (director level), 2 deputy deans (director level), and 1 secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission (director level); there are 13 internal institutions and 1 mass organization; there are 24 department-level leadership positions in the internal institutions, including 13 director-level and 11 deputy director-level. There are currently 142 staff members, including 4 senior professional titles, 35 deputy senior professional titles, 60 intermediate professional titles, and 13 junior professional titles. The college covers an area of about 100 mu, with a construction area of nearly 100,000 square meters. It has teaching buildings, library buildings, apartment buildings, restaurants, gymnastics halls, wrestling halls, martial arts Sanda halls, basketball halls, tennis halls, track and field stadiums, tennis courts, strength training halls and other supporting facilities, as well as advanced teaching facilities such as physiological laboratories, news laboratories, computer network centers, voice rooms, and recording studios. The library has 84,144 paper books. The college has 11 majors in sports training, civil aviation air security, traditional ethnic sports and physical education, and 18 specialties in track and field, wrestling, football, taekwondo, judo, tennis, hockey, etc. In recent years, the college has vigorously built the autonomous region's sports system "training center, cultural center, talent center, scientific research center, training center", and has relatively successfully completed the tasks of talent training, scientific research, social services, and cultural inheritance. We have established in-depth cooperation with enterprises such as AVIC Alliance and Aowei Horse Industry, vigorously broadened the road of school-enterprise cooperation, and actively implemented the "1+X double certificate" system; completed 3 national scientific research projects, provided 4 think tank reports for the autonomous region leaders, and the scientific research project "Research on Countermeasures for Inner Mongolia to Accelerate the Cultivation and Development of Advantageous and Characteristic Sports Industries" won the 6th Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Award in 2017; built and maintained the Inner Mongolia Sports Museum, edited and published "Research on the Construction of Sports Culture in Inner Mongolia", "Sports Celebrities", "Sports Maxims", "Records of Inner Mongolia Sports", "Records of 40 Years of Inner Mongolia Sports in Reform and Opening Up", "History of Equestrian Sports", "History of Ice and Snow Sports" and many other sports and cultural books. The college has not only trained a large number of sports professionals and various types of sports talents needed by the society, but also trained and sent outstanding athletes such as Zhang Xiaoping, the 81kg boxing champion of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Wang Hao, the 20km race walking champion of the 2009 Berlin World Athletics Championships, Yang Jiayu, the 20km race walking champion of the 2017 Berlin World Athletics Championships, Li Qian, the third runner-up of women's boxing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 2017 Tianjin National Games marathon team champion, and Bao Yinjia, the champion of the 2020 National International Wrestling Championships, winning honors for the autonomous region.
