Inner Mongolia Arts Institute is located in the beautiful city of Hohhot. It is the only independent comprehensive general higher art college in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Its predecessor was the Inner Mongolia Art School founded in 1957. In 1987, the School of Arts of Inner Mongolia University was established on the basis of the Inner Mongolia Art School. In 2001, it achieved a substantial merger with Inner Mongolia University. In 2015, with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China and the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, it was independently established as the Inner Mongolia Arts Institute. In 1994, it began to recruit undergraduate students. In 2004, it began to train master's students. In 2021, it was approved to establish a university for the construction of a doctoral degree-granting unit during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in the autonomous region, and in 2023 it will enter the ranks of universities with first-class disciplines in the autonomous region. Achievements in running schools In recent years, teachers and students of the school have achieved excellent results in various art creation and performances. Among them, the original dance drama "Heroic Sisters of the Grassland" won the 11th National "Lotus Award" Dance Drama Award, the 12th China Art Festival and the 16th Wenhua Award, and the 6th National Ethnic Art Festival Dream Award's highest awards - "Best Play Award" and "Best Director Award", and was selected into the "China Academy of Art's Recommended 100 Literary and Art Works List Inspired by the Spirit of the 'Speech'"; Professor Jie Yuanfang's watercolor painting "Far Away" won the 3rd China Art Award•13th National Art Exhibition Gold Award. The awards won by the above two works filled the gaps in related fields in the autonomous region. Teachers and students have won 72 awards in important national performances and competitions such as the National Minority Art Festival, the National Art Exhibition, the National College Students Art Exhibition, the China College Students Advertising Art Festival, the Milan Design Week China College Design Discipline Teachers and Students Excellent Works Exhibition, and the China Good Creativity Competition; 180 awards in important performances and competitions such as the China Music "Golden Bell Award" (Inner Mongolia Division), the North China Five Provinces Dance Competition, the "Times Golden Calf Award", and the National Chinese Cultural Symbols and Images Original Animation Competition; 21 "Sarina" awards and 6 "Five One Project" awards from the autonomous region. In recent years, a total of 24 projects have been approved for funding by the National Art Fund, and projects have been successfully organized and implemented, including the training of Mongolian long-tune art talents, the training of horse-head fiddle education and inheritance talents, the training of Mongolian dress making skills inheritance and innovative design talents, and the training of young creative talents in ethnic theme animation. Since its establishment, the school has trained a large number of outstanding art talents. Such as composer Altan Ole, singers Lasurong, Dedema, Tengger, folk music performer Li Zhen, conductor Yalungerile, composer and music producer Sanbao, dancers and dance educators Aodemul, Aodenggerile, Kang Shaohui, Zhao Linping, Zhang Yongsheng, Jiang Tiehong, performing artists Saren Gaowa, Ding Yongdai, famous film and television director Kang Honglei, painters Li Decai, Li Xuefeng, CCTV announcer Nathan, etc. Teaching units and disciplines The school currently has two campuses, Xinhua and Yungu, covering an area of 504,232.00 square meters and a total construction area of 191,807.78 square meters. There are 9 teaching units and 1 affiliated secondary art school, including the Conservatory of Music, the Conservatory of Dance, the Conservatory of Film and Television Drama, the Conservatory of Fine Arts, the Conservatory of Design, the Conservatory of New Media, the Conservatory of Culture and Art Management, the Conservatory of Marxism, and the Public Teaching Department. The disciplines and majors are mainly arts disciplines, with three first-level master's degree authorization points in music and dance, fine arts, and art theory, and a master of arts professional degree authorization point. There are 25 undergraduate majors, including art history and theory, music performance, musicology, composition and composition technology theory, dance performance, dance studies, dance choreography, performance, drama and film literature, radio and television director, broadcasting and hosting art, animation, fine arts, painting, sculpture, calligraphy, Chinese painting, art design, visual communication design, environmental design, product design, clothing and apparel design, public art, digital media art, and cultural industry management. The school currently has 1 autonomous region-level first-class discipline, 7 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, 1 national characteristic major, and 6 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate major construction points. It has been approved for 4 national first-class undergraduate courses, 1 national quality course, 17 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate courses, 6 autonomous region-level quality courses, and 8 quality online open courses. It has won 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements, 5 first prizes for autonomous region-level teaching achievements, and 4 second prizes. It has been approved for 2 new liberal arts research and reform projects of the Ministry of Education. It has established an autonomous region-level curriculum ideological and political demonstration center. The university has won 4 national bronze medals, 5 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 7 bronze medals in the China International "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. There is currently 1 key discipline in the autonomous region (art theory), 2 key research bases in humanities and social sciences in autonomous region universities (Aesthetic Education Research Center of Art Universities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, National Art Research Base of Universities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region), and 1 key research base in philosophy and social sciences in the autonomous region (Grassland Silk Road Music Culture Research and Communication Base). It has been approved to establish national scientific research and creation platforms such as the National Ordinary Colleges and Universities Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance Base (Inheritance Project "Mongolian Traditional Music"), the China-Central and Eastern European Countries National Art Inheritance and Exchange Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the first batch of Chinese Literature and Art Criticism Bases of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Mongolian Youth Chorus Art Talent Training Base, Anda National Music Inheritance Innovation and Communication Center, Autonomous Region Industrial Design Center, Inner Mongolia Leather Art Industrialization Project Demonstration Base, Mongolian Clothing Modeling and Crafts Practice Teaching Demonstration Center, Mongolian Decorative Art Research Center, Inner Mongolia Animation Industry R&D and Talent Training Base, etc. Since 2017, it has received 126.76 million yuan in funding from the central government to support local college development projects. The journal was rated as "RCCSE China Core Academic Journal (A-)" in 2020, and was rated as the extended level of "Arts" core journal in the "AMI Comprehensive Evaluation Report of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals (2022)" in 2022. The faculty team The school currently has 488 full-time teachers, 377 of whom have master's degrees or above. The school of foreign exchange actively serves the local economic, social and cultural development. Signed strategic cooperation agreements with Xilinhot City, Xing'an League Administrative Office, Tokto County, Horqin New District Management Committee, Xing'an League Vocational and Technical College, etc., cooperated with many enterprises to establish a creative practice internship base for teachers and students, participated in the "one district and two bases" project jointly built by Hohhot City and 7 universities in Hohhot, actively promoted scientific research innovation, promoted the transformation of artistic achievements, and improved social service capabilities. In recent years, it has hosted the first China Inner Mongolia Matouqin Art Festival series of activities, the National Art Master Art Instructor Excellent Works Tour, the National Eight Fine Arts Academy Deans Summit Forum, the 19th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Traditional Music Society, and the 2016 Cross-Strait Youth Dance Exchange and Performance and other academic and artistic performance activities. Strengthen cooperation and exchanges with local Ulanmuqi in talent training, creative performances, etc., set up school Ulanmuqi, and widely carry out performances for the benefit of the people. Actively carry out international art education exchanges and cooperation. It has signed inter-school cooperation agreements with the University of Vermont, the Vermont Center for the Arts, the University of Illinois, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, the Mongolian University of Culture and Arts, the Mongolian Academy of Music and Dance, the Mongolian National University of Science and Technology, the University of Kluk, Thailand, and Keimyung University, South Korea, and has carried out joint training of doctoral and master's students with the University of Kluk, Thailand. It has actively participated in activities such as the "Belt and Road" Music Education Alliance, the "China-ASEAN Art College Alliance", and the "China-Russia Art College Alliance", and actively integrated into the new development pattern of the "Belt and Road". It has visited the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and other countries and regions such as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan for many times to perform or hold exhibitions of works, making positive contributions to expanding the international influence of China's excellent traditional culture and art and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In the future, the school will be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implement the Party's education policy and the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people, persist in cultivating high-quality talents in artistic practice, and build the school into a propaganda team for the Party's theoretical lines, principles and policies, a main battlefield for Marxist ideology, a melting pot for mutual assistance and common unity and progress among all ethnic groups, a cradle for the growth of artistic talents and artists, a main force for building a cultural region and a strong cultural region, and a gas station and incubator for the development of cultural undertakings and industries.
