Inner Mongolia Vocational College of Commerce was established in May 2003. It is a full-time public higher vocational school organized by the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and directly under the Education Department of the Autonomous Region. In 2018, it was approved as the first batch of demonstration higher vocational colleges in the autonomous region. In 2019, it was approved as a national high-quality junior college and the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot colleges of the Ministry of Education. In 2020, it was approved as an excellent school of the Fourth Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award in the autonomous region. In 2021, it was approved as the first batch of school-enterprise collaborative employment, entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration practice bases of the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the autonomous region’s "Double High Plan" construction unit, the autonomous region’s "Three-dimensional Education" comprehensive reform pilot school, and the autonomous region’s digital campus benchmark school construction unit. In 2022, it was approved as the autonomous region’s "Internet + Education" demonstration school construction unit, the autonomous region’s first batch of vocational education demonstration virtual simulation training base construction schools, and the autonomous region’s first batch of labor education practice bases for colleges and universities in the autonomous region. In 2023, it was approved as the first batch of pilot schools for the construction of digital campuses for vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education. The college is located in the Higher Vocational Park of Hohhot, the capital of the autonomous region. It was formed by the merger of the former Inner Mongolia Commercial School (founded in 1952), the former Inner Mongolia Grain School (founded in 1956) and the former Inner Mongolia Industrial Art Design School (founded in 1955). The college covers an area of 916 acres, with a building area of 190,000 square meters. The teaching equipment is worth 182.4613 million yuan. There are 549 faculty members and more than 9,300 students. In more than 70 years of operation, the college has trained more than 90,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents, providing strong human resources support for the economic and social development of the autonomous region. The college adheres to the school motto of "diligent study, excellence, integrity and innovation", adheres to the school-running direction of facing the market, serving development and promoting employment, and the school-running model of integrating production and education and school-enterprise cooperation, vigorously promotes the combination of work and study, and the unity of knowledge and action. In 2010, the first vocational education group in the autonomous region, Inner Mongolia Commerce Vocational Education Group, was established. There are currently 187 governing units, and a good situation of in-depth cooperation between the government, industry, enterprises and schools has been formed. The college actively builds a talent training overpass that connects secondary vocational education, higher vocational education and undergraduate education, and has a stable source of secondary vocational education students. Since 2014, it has jointly organized vocational undergraduate education with Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, and has trained a total of 971 students. Up to now, 4,107 people have passed the junior college to undergraduate examination and were admitted to undergraduate colleges such as Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, and Inner Mongolia University of Technology. The college connects with the autonomous region's service industry, deeply implements the national "quality improvement and excellence action plan" and the autonomous region's "double high plan" construction projects, and builds 8 major professional groups including marketing, big data and accounting, hotel management and digital operations, computer application technology, cooking technology and nutrition, clothing design and technology, new media, and infant care services and management. Among them, the marketing, big data and accounting professional groups are high-level professional group construction projects in the autonomous region. The college currently offers 47 majors, including 4 national high-quality school backbone majors, 29 national 1+X certificate pilot majors, 4 national modern apprenticeship pilot majors, 8 autonomous region demonstration school key construction majors, 10 autonomous region brand majors, 2 autonomous region key construction majors, 2 autonomous region characteristic majors, and 2 autonomous region craftsman classes. 11 industrial colleges have been built. In the past three years, the registration rate of new students, graduate satisfaction, and employer satisfaction have all been above 90%. The college pays attention to strengthening international exchanges and cooperation. Since 2007, it has successively implemented Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with Sunderland City College and South Essex College in the UK, and has trained 1,513 graduates who have been awarded both the Inner Mongolia Vocational College of Commerce and the British partner colleges. The college adheres to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, conscientiously implements the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and continues to focus on serving the "five major tasks" assigned to Inner Mongolia by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the two major tasks of building a "model autonomous region" in all directions.
