Jiangsu Medical Vocational College is a full-time public college directly under the Provincial Health Commission. It is a model higher vocational college in Jiangsu Province and a construction unit of a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics in Jiangsu Province. The school was formerly the Central China Health School founded by the New Fourth Army Headquarters in July 1941. In 1958, Yancheng Medical College and Yancheng Traditional Chinese Medicine College were established. In July 1964, it was renamed Jiangsu Yancheng Health School. After the national college entrance examination system was restored in 1977, it undertook the training tasks of ordinary colleges and undergraduates for a long time. In 1996, it began to recruit students for five-year higher vocational education and carried out higher vocational education. On March 18, 2005, it was approved by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province (Su Zhengfa [2005] No. 25) and filed with the Ministry of Education, and was upgraded to Yancheng Health Vocational and Technical College. In February 2017, it was renamed Jiangsu Medical Vocational College. The school is located in Yancheng, the capital of oriental wetlands with beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, and the world of cranes and deer. It covers an area of 843.3 acres and has 12 teaching units including medical school, nursing school, pharmacy school, and international education school. It offers 22 major medical and health majors such as clinical medicine, nursing, traditional Chinese medicine, pharmacy, and preventive medicine. The school is the executive director unit of the Medical and Health Education Professional Committee of the China Vocational Education Society, the chairman unit of the Rehabilitation Therapy Professional Teaching Guidance Committee of the National Health Industry Steering Committee, the deputy chairman unit of the National Clinical Assistant Physician Qualification Examination Working Committee, the initiator and presidium unit of the National Medical and Health Vocational Education Alliance, and the vice chairman unit and chairman unit of the Teaching Working Committee of the Jiangsu Medical and Health Vocational Education Group. There are 626 faculty members and 518 full-time teachers, including 51 professors, 444 teachers with master's degrees or above, and 88 teachers with doctoral degrees. The school was selected as the third batch of national vocational education teacher innovation team project construction units, with 7 provincial excellent teaching teams, 1 provincial college excellent science and technology innovation team, 3 provincial teaching masters, 10 provincial "333 Project" (third level) training targets, 5 provincial "six talent peaks" high-level talents, 9 provincial "Qinglan Project" young and middle-aged academic leaders, and 29 middle-aged and young backbone teacher training targets. The school's clinical medicine examination pass rate is 45% higher than the national average, the preventive medicine examination pass rate is 39% higher than the national average, and the examination pass rates for nursing, medical imaging technology, rehabilitation therapy technology, and medical laboratory technology are over 99%, 80%, 84%, and 87%, respectively, all of which are among the top similar colleges in the country. At present, a total of 142 individual and group awards have been won in the National Vocational Skills Competition, including 2 special prizes and 50 first prizes. The school adheres to the "four aspects", deepens the integration of school and local areas, and strengthens organized scientific research. In the past five years, it has undertaken 17 national projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Foreign Experts Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and 17 provincial and ministerial projects such as the Jiangsu Natural Science Foundation and the Social Science Foundation.
