Jiangsu Institute of Technology is a provincial full-time general college located in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, a national historical and cultural city known as "a place of thousands of years of reading and a modern innovation city" and an important modern manufacturing base in the Yangtze River Delta. The school was founded in 1984 and has gone through the periods of Changzhou Vocational Teachers College, Changzhou Technical Teachers College, and Jiangsu Technical Teachers College. In 2012, it was renamed Jiangsu Institute of Technology. The school is a master's degree awarding institution, an excellent unit for the evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education, one of the first national key construction bases for vocational teacher training, and one of the first decision-making consulting research bases in Jiangsu Province. The school has a building area of more than 500,000 square meters, teaching equipment with a total value of more than 320 million yuan, and a collection of more than 1.98 million Chinese and foreign books. It has more than 20 teaching and research units, including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Information Engineering, the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, the School of Education, and the Faculty of Vocational Education. It has established more than 230 industry-university-research bases and more than 40 research institutions with industry associations, well-known enterprises, and large institutes, and has co-built multiple research platforms such as Changzhou Industrial Research Institute, Changzhou Celebrity Research Institute, Changzhou Family Education Research Institute, and Changzhou Vocational Education Modernization Think Tank with local government departments, making positive contributions to local economic and social development and industrial upgrading.
