Jiangxi Agricultural Engineering Vocational College is a full-time public general higher vocational college integrating agriculture, forestry, electromechanics, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, information engineering, finance, and kindergarten teachers. It is affiliated to the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and is guided by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education. The college was founded in 1940. Its predecessor was Jiangxi Zhangshu Agricultural School. It was identified as a key technical secondary school in Jiangxi Province in 1980, the first batch of national key technical secondary schools in 2000, and upgraded to a higher vocational college in 2004. In 2014, it was approved by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government to become a targeted training school for grassroots agricultural technicians in Jiangxi Province (targeted enrollment, targeted training, and targeted allocation). In 2016, it was approved by the Provincial Department of Education to jointly train applied technology undergraduate talents with Jinggangshan University. In 2019, it was approved as the second batch of national 1+X certificate system pilot colleges. The college covers an area of 802 acres, with a building area of 146,500 square meters and a green area of 235,000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 180 million yuan, the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 40 million yuan, and the library has a collection of 300,000 books. The sports facilities are complete. A campus network system has been built. The college adheres to the strategy of "strengthening the college with talents" and has created an excellent teaching team through "internal training and external introduction". There are 482 faculty and staff, including 30 professors, 42 associate professors, 1 provincial subject leader, 3 provincial teaching masters, 10 provincial young and middle-aged backbone teachers, 2 provincial excellent teaching teams, and more than 13,000 students. The college has 7 colleges and 2 departments: College of Bioengineering, College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, College of Animal Science, School of Economics and Management, School of Information Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Preschool Teachers College, Basic Department, and Ideological and Political Department. The college offers 36 higher vocational majors and recruits students from 12 provinces and cities across the country. Among them, the majors of garden engineering technology and Chinese herbal medicine cultivation technology are provincial college specialty majors, and 5 majors such as animal husbandry and veterinary medicine are key majors of the college. Pet medical care and health care, agricultural biotechnology, and e-commerce are the college's entrepreneurial pilot majors. Three provincial-level quality courses, "Plant Tissue Culture", "Medicinal Plant Cultivation Technology", and "Plant and Plant Physiology", three provincial-level quality resource sharing courses, "Medicinal Plant Cultivation Technology", "Soil Fertilizer", and "Marketing" have been established, and there are 28 college-level quality courses. The college's adult education has two forms: academic education (undergraduate, junior college, and secondary technical school) and non-academic education. It is a modern agricultural technology training base of the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China, a modern youth farmer training base in Jiangxi Province, and a continuing education and training base for senior agricultural technicians in Jiangxi Province. In recent years, it has successively undertaken training projects for agricultural technology extension personnel training in Jiangxi Province, new professional farmer cultivation, farmer entrepreneurship training, farmer field school teacher training, and continuing education and training for senior agricultural technicians in Jiangxi Province. Elected as the executive director and vice chairman unit of China Modern Agriculture Vocational Education Group, China Modern Animal Husbandry Vocational Education Group, China Modern Agriculture Equipment Vocational Education Group, China Urban Agriculture Vocational Education Group, and National Information Security Vocational Education Group, and the first member unit of China University Co-creation Space Alliance. In order to enhance the school-running ability of the college and enhance the school-running influence of the college, the construction of the college's new campus in Jiulong Lake, Nanchang has been fully launched in 2021. On December 6 of the same year, the Nanchang Municipal Government approved the construction of a new campus in the Jiulong District, Honggutan District, Nanchang. The new campus is planned to be built in two phases, with a land area of approximately 995.9 acres, a total construction area of 438,900 square meters, and an estimated fixed asset investment of 2.197 billion yuan.
